You can do vinyl in bathrooms as well :)

My favourite flooring in this house currently is the vinyl - regret not doing it all the way through when we did the kitchen, although, its only been three years - maybe it won't age well.
I'm curious, what kind of vinyl are we speaking of here? (pics?)
When I hear vinyl flooring all I can think of is this : :X3:

Looks like this, since everyone bitched about the price - I decided to get two more quotes, R7900 and R8100. Neither include skirting board installation - but - I can do that. Just shows return business isn't always rewarded - took for granted they wouldn't screw me over by over 20%.

Looks pretty good! How's the thickness of the vinyl and how long is the "pattern" supposed to last in a high traffic area such as a kitchen/door way?

Also, regarding pricing. If you had good/solid work done by the prev company (even though they were expensive), perhaps give them the opportunity to price match? Many times the cheapest companies have bad workmanship.

Here's more details on what we installed: http://aspenflooring.co.za/vinyl-flooring/ I'm not sure how long its meant to last, but I've seen similiar stuff installed on Virgin Actives floors, shop floors, hotels, etc - so I assume it can handle a decent amount of traffic.

The previous company was meant to send someone out to take their own measurements, they've been a no show - so unless I hear from them, I won't be contacting them again.

You also get vinyl plank flooring, which is what I've gone with. It's pretty much the same concept as laminated flooring, same wooden planks that are tongue and groove - the top layer is however vinyl.

This can be used in a bathroom even.

If it doesn't blow away....

It's more for when we come home from the beach, covered in sand.

Did you do your shower? Planning on something similar in the backyard for the same reason. Want to go for straight wall mounted though. Cold water only. Care to share some pics and tips?

Can anyone recommend a very good roofing place who does waterproofing?

No surprises, but my new flat roof over the granny flat is leaking.

Utp wall socket arrived, this is the connector that uses the krone tool? Would like confirmation before forcing it.

What area?

Unfortunately not - its on my list for next summer... although, I've changed what I plan on doing now - installed a shade cover where the shower was going.

Yes the punchdown tool is used to press the wires into the slots and ensure they are "spliced" into the little metal teeth.

100% the right connector...

And it should give a nice satisfying *CLICK* when its in properly.

This the the vinyl flooring in my house. The first pic with mat, has been installed for about 7 years ( I am living in this place for 4 so far). Its impervious to my kids.

Second pic is also a vinyl floor now in for about 24 months. Was replaced when the room got flooded by roof leak and when the old laminate was removed , the floor was found to be very damp and full of goggas and not because of the roof leak . Finally a few weeks later, when it was evident damp was still there, they put self leveling screed mixed with some waterproof thing (unsure ). Havent noticed any issues since then but it's lovely!

The best thing about vinyl is that it's quiet. Most people think it's real wood :)IMG_20210310_171651.jpgIMG_20210310_171835.jpg

Is this vinyl plank or sheet?

What's that black glass cabinet?

A lot of people rave about this company on local groups, not sure if they cover your area, they quoted for me once, but out of price range at the time - also learnt to do it myself: https://www.didiwaterproofing.co.za/

Thanks - the tool didn't quite fit on the one side, had to go in at an angle - but - wall plate installed and network seems to be working :D

3D printer - still busy making the enclosure - but - needed to print a cable box for the wall urgently. (bottom right - to hide the network cables that used to connect my office to the rest of the house). Office is now the baby room.
