I'm currently busy with a small kitchen in our granny flat.

Labour + white gloss cupboards and easiquartz top: R44 000
Handles: R1 400
Bosch oven, gas hob, extractor: R8 000
Tiles + backsplash tiles: R10 000

plus maybe some other odds and ends, call it R65 000 for a small kitchen of about 2.5m x 2.5m.

WTF is up with that middle cupboard?
WHY IS IT OFF CENTER TO THE REST. WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO PULL

Which middle cupboard? The one on the wall?
That's for the extractor hood, but yeah - it does kind of throw your eyeline off. Hopefully with the extractor hood in it looks a bit better.

1) 3 x glass panels plus ceiling for the bar counter with LED lights in the ceiling

2) I need a slide out glass rack with LED lighting built to fill in a gap next to the braai chimney.

3) Integrated wine rack.

That sounds very interesting, might be easier going with specialized MDF unless you set on solid wood. Have you looked at what runners etc you are going to use or do you want someone to design it for you?

for the carcass ply wood is good enough. I have some bamboo cladding on my slide out braai wood bin. I might change it now since I've repainted the braai room.

I can design it myself but as an engineer I loathe working with wood. I'm hoping to find a skilled carpenter that can manufacture the design for me.

If you have a plan and an idea for the wood I might know someone.

great but let me just emphasise that I want someone that can think out the box and not just plug & play with off the shelf stuff.

Eg. the slide out wine & champagne glass rack must slide out smoothly and the LED back lights must come on when open etc.

Something like an Arduino with a door sensor turning on a relay for the lights?

@spiff care to post a pic of the area said accessories will need to fill? I can try to put together some mock-ups, which can be used to refine the thing when you do find someone to build it for you.

Melamine that's painted beige... what a kak colour

You only need to set down a good primer.

I've used Rustoleum Bulls-eye 1-2-3 successfully on bathroom tiles it's that good of a primer. Pick up at Builders for under R500 for 3.8L. You probably only need a 1L tin for a door. Then use your paint of choice.

If you want a matt chalk paint finish, then even look at using Tjhoko paint or Rustoleum Chalk pain. Can be brushed on or rolled on. Redid a pine wall unit that we put in the kitchen with Tjhoko and it came out nice. Very durable.

You need to just wash down the surfaces with acetone/alcohol/benzine to improve the adhesion of the first coat. You can get away with not stripping the old paint.

Thanks. Great stuff.

Anyone in the Joburg Northen Suburbs considering home improvements and need an estimate of current costs or a bill of quantities can message me on mybroadband. Hope to hear from someone.

Picked up a few of these this morning, to keep as spares when next I have some wiring work to do. The 2-ways were about R9 ea and the 3-ways were around R19 ea from ACDC Express.
