We saw this tired house the other day (190sqm) and the 'renovations' that I'd do at the start are :

- Retile
- Repaint (walls / ceiling / roof tiles)
- Skirting (white)

Anyone know a rough cost of these small renovations ?
My head tells me a repaint R30,000+ (excluding roof) and floor R30,000+?
Skirting are cheap ?

I'd remove the railing in the below photo too

A nice skirting can be expensive too. R100 per metre

If you plan to do the tiling yourself, but don't yet know how, watch YouTube videos and practice on some other surface, where you can take it down again before everything sets.

If you plan on getting a contractor to do the tiling, ask to see his work on other sites, so you can decide whether the quality of work he delivers will please you.

So I moved into a new flat
I have poor water pressure
Any suggestions to improve water pressure with using a water tank.
I've been looking at the dab box mini
Suggestions please
Check the tap filter mesh on the ends of the spout. The usually get filled with sand and dirt after the pipes have been worked on in the area and it can reduce the water flow and pressure.

Was busy untangling the mess of dodgy electrical diy stuff my father in law has done over the years today.

There's a mulitplug screwed into the wall right, with one plug plugged into it. So I pull out this single plug and as I let go of it I shock, on this now unplugged plug - not on the multiplug socket.

I'm like wtf is this thing plugged into, maybe there's something with a capacitor on the other end of this lead I'm thinking. So I trace the wire, see it going through the wall to outside... eventually I realise the unimaginable. This plug was SUPPLYING power to the multiplug, somewhere in the ceiling my father in law had joined an extension lead to some live wires and plugged the plug end into a multiplug to get power to it.

That's about as dangerous as it gets I think

Can you get a formica top to be used as a centre island? Trying to save some bux but it needs to be about 1m wide to include an overhang on the one side.

Ok so if going stone, we dont like speckly countertops... Prefer the veiny type ones that are mainly white with a vein of grey. Googling around seems to show granite is mostly speckly so it'll have to be marble or quartz right?

None of the stupid websites have prices... What's the general bands cost wise? I'm assuming cheap to expensive is this:

Formica
Granite
Quartz
Marble
?

I'll need about 2600x900

Quartz is cheaper than granite I believe but otherwise seems right. Quartz also thinner generally.

You do get granite with more streaks than speckles also.

You can also do concrete or epoxy resin covered tops

I have a quartz top that is white with veins in it... Was not stupid expensive but more than standard granite...

Was 2700 x 1600 with 2 waterfall sides and it was just under 28000 around 3 years ago.

Ps.. Anyone have experience with wolfstone acrylic tops?

Asked before but i have a short memory:
What paint to use on precast wall that can be spray painted on ? (With a compressor...not in a can)

Any outdoor specific paint you want, just check the application instructions to see whether it's suitable for spraying and what the dilution ratios are, if any..

Also, hope you have already gone over the precast wall with permobond to ensure good paint adhesion and a long lasting finish..
