Can these cabinets be painted? If so I'm guessing sprayed would be first choice.. but rolled is possible?

Anything is possible really... but it will all be down to the prep work on the doors and carcasses as to whether it will be successful.

Prep prep prep prep prep prep..

That's a lot of prep, I know, but not nearly as much as you would have to put in to make sure you get a good finish that's going to last long and not rub off with the first Angry door slam..

You need to get a good key going, which for those doors will mean a good sanding with a 120grit.. after that, primer and paint.. spray on will give the best overall finish, but yes, roll on will work as well..

Thanks gents. I'll inform the wife that she's got a lot of work ahead of her. :D

Ps. Are these cabinets modular? Meaning the carcasses can be removed and re-assembled in a different configuration?

Depends on the construction.. and they may have also been custom made to fit the kitchen in the current configuration, which would might make them less suitable to reconfigure..

Yeah that is a problematic question to answer without actually pulling them all to pieces unfortunately.

There is a good chance that they're a fairly standard set of dimensions unless it was a very expensive custom kitchen (which from the small picture it doesn't seem to be).

There is also the change that trying to take them to pieces to reconfigure them would end up damaging them significantly.

Why is that in the building/renovation industry it's ok to just never rock up at the agreed time?
Someone will tell you they coming at 10am, and an hour later you have to phone them to ask where they are.

Jip, this grates my balls every single time. I had a guy come out because the usual wasn't available. He had a look, we agreed on a price and a date was booked for the next morning.

That was 4 weeks ago, never pitched.

In my experience, this is mostly a Western Cape thing. At times it feels like some people think you are doing them a favour by giving them your business.
"Yeah I'll send you that quote before lunch".
"I'm busy with it now"

It's an EC thing as well.

The optimist in me says it's because they are so skilled in their work that they don't have a keen eye for admin and making appointments and stuff. Although, it is frustrating, especially when you plan your day around it.

Or to put it this way, I would rather have a good builder that is a bit less admin-savvy than someone who is clued up with their appointments and arrangements but builds all their walls skew. Not that they are mutually exclusive but I would take the lesser of the two evils in this case.

But I fully agree that it is frustrating and a huge waste of time in some cases

I'm in CT, hope it's just a WC thing.

Had a piss poor experience with 1 guy that did exactly this. Dragged out sending a quote for 2 weeks and when he eventually sent it I had to follow-up with him every day again for a week asking for his banking details for the deposit.

Then he had the audacity to say he's cancelling the quote because I'm being unreasonable by "forcing him" to send his account details and goes on about how he has business ethics etc.

The mentality of some people, I swear business is great and some just have too much work :X3:

In hindsight, kinda glad I dodged that bullet though if that's how things started off.

Nope, its a universal thing... even in sunny Durbs the ability to keep an appointment is almost impossible for the guys, unless they're a big concern...
