I had a plumber out to deal with a clogged drain and he chucked some acid down the drain that just completely obliterated all it came in contact with other than the pipe..

Anyone know what acid he might have used and where I could procure it..?
Drain acid. Ask at brights or builders etc.

The most dangerous acid you will own at home.

And careful not to put in too much. I did that and I think the heat caused the drain in the bath to expand, which cracked the porcelain/ceramic/plastic/stuff of the bath off. Luckily didn't cause a leak but I basically ruined our bath - bar getting a company in to fix it.

I basically use it only for the shower drain

Is this a test? Google says it's the same thing.

Also known as drain acid or drain cleaner etc.
I thought drain acid was a stronger or different type of acid. Most drain cleaners are actually bases and not acids (like caustic soda/lye), but I've found that muriatic acid works quite well - just as long as you keep it away from any metal or concrete surfaces. Porcelain and PVC pipes are fair game though.

Yeah I found that I prefer the version that brights sell over the ones at builders that are weaker. Interesting

Personally I would definately avoid any form of chemical drain cleaner. Generally a good plunging and some hot water after to clear soap scum or fat/oil is all you need.

I need to clean my outside kitchen drain, which has years of food related muck built up..

This **** comes back up like a volcano if you use it wrong.

I had the insurance plumber quoting thousands to dig up our entire property for a blockage, couple of doses of this and it's been block free for almost four years.

Morning all

1st time owning a pool and all this is foreign to me

Kids want to swim and I use borehole water so don't want them getting any reactions

Also rinsing and back washing all foreign to me

Looking at this rest results is it bad for kids to swim

They gave me alkalinity up and shock it and I have no idea how to use it

Has your borehole water been tested for high amounts of metals?

What type of pool?

Buy hth test strips, dip 1 into water and see what you need

Clean the basket where the pool cleaners connects to, clean the basket at the pump, put everything back in its place, turn valve to backwash and switch pump on for 45sec to a minute, switch pump off, turn valve to rinse, switch on and let it run for 20sec, turn off, valve on filter and switch back on the regular filter time.

Whats wrong with your kids that they cant swim in the water?

Some people have staining issues with that, a good old floater is the best solution for general upkeep. And once every week or even two weeks just check with the HTH strips what you need and adjust accordingly.
