I recently had some water damage done on my ceiling and looking to replace it with iso boards, already bought.

My question, would it be better to remove the current rhino boards or would it be fine/better to install the iso boards underneath them?

Laminated flooring. Can you install them over existing tile flooring ?

you can, again I would rather remove the tile and retile or remove and put the laminate. you are going to have to trim doors etc also if you dont.

Waiting to collect it, managed to secure a used removable pool fence for a 10x5m pool, reckon I won’t need all of it since the house is close to one side and the fountain on the other. Just need to find a way using cunning landscaping (Spiky succulents & cacti) to prevent access from the top and sides of the pool. The slide is getting canned.

Also, no idea how the previous owner got this right but they mis-aligned the pool to the house, and then proceed to tile it in the worst way possible, which highlights the error.

Thinking of going with a dark tile (would we have to remove the old or just tile on top), maybe some form of poured on rubber “tar”

I also vote for remove the old one, especially if you’ve had leaks before. You might end up with soggy inner ceiling with mould, if leaks happen again.

I would shock that mofo before deciding on anything else. Looking at green/brown pool would bug the f out of me...

Thank you for a very good question. My advice, leave the laminate and go for vinyl. I had laminate at the old place, glad I left there because it didn't age well and we paid a lot for it. New place we installed vinyl from a forum member and I couldn't be happier.

Also, with you guys having a baby on the way I would certainly not go for laminate due to water spills etc.

Yea laminates and water don't mix well. I cringe even when the domestic mops the floors. Luckily I only have laminates in the bedrooms. The rest of the house is tiles. Still think vinyl is better. I have a hole in one of my laminate floor panels in my bedroom. Was the moer in with the ex-wife and I threw my phone into the ground.

Every time the domestic mops over that hole it looks like it's getting bigger. Ah well.

Yes, vinyl is expensive. If I could do it over I would go with a concrete screed.

You can then do the skirting in the same tile to match. One less thing to maintain. With a smaller spacing (like 2mm) you can get it to look like laminate or vinyl.

If you have to weigh up the labour cost, cement etc. it probably comes to the same as vinyl, maybe a bit less. But then you're maintenance free...

Damn, I see now that vinyl has increased in price in general. I always thought it was typically the cheaper option.

For a kitchen, would you say vinyl or laminate (assuming none of the more labour intensive options like screed is possible)?

We've been looking to redo our kitchen with laminate (have some in our home offices already) but worried about wear and water resistance in the kitchen area...
