Does anyone have a ballpark price of Lambdaboard in 60mm? I've tried to get a few quotes and I'm not getting a response for prices. Any supplier recommendations in JHB would be appreciated.

Need to redo a very small kitchen in the Randburg area. Any recommendations for a decent company please or preferably a good private guy.

Nothing DIY

We've had good work from TimBuild (used to be TimberCity) in Strydom Park. Not the fastest at drawing up the plans, but the work is excellent.

Thank you that's nice and close, will give them a call.

Just looking for somebody trustworthy who does a decent job and will take on a small project. Also, there isn't much to design  so it's more measurement, cutting and installing. Galley style kitchen about 3m x 2m.

Looking for a decent bespoke dinning room ceiling light for a 6 seater custom made dinning table.

I have googled but haven't found anything that pops out for me, hoping someone here knows of some places with top notch flush mounted ceiling lights.

No hanging lights as the ceiling is low plus I have a large mirror on the dinning room wall.

Smart light / dimmable would be preferable.

Thanks.

Any recommendations on how to fix this? We have small spikes at the top of the wall that are obviously rusting and running down the wall when it rains. How do i fix the rust? And what's the best way to paint over the marks on the wall?

Galvanize it and repaint your wall.

Anyone know where I can be window shutters like these? Or similar.

In the Western Cape area.

Also, anyone know of a type of sound absorbing material, or some type of foam that I can place over a large wooden floor (attic)? I want to eventually add a mat on top of that.

I was given a busted Ryobi SDS drill that I've been looking at fixing. It seems to receive power but the minute the trigger is pulled, it makes a 'poof' sound and I see a brief spark from the brush area. It doesn't trip the power or anything.

I disassembled it and gave it a good clean. The bottom bearing was a bit stiff but after working it with some Q20 and packing it with grease it moves freely again. The brushes still look good, but the commutator was full of carbon so I went at it with an emery cloth and got it nice and clean again. I packed the reciprocating rod on top full of grease (she was empty) but the same issue seems to persist. The motor moves freely, so I doubt it's a mechanical failure. I'm thinking the starter cap is busted, or there is a short somewhere, not that I could see one.

Is it worth fixing seeing as a new one can be had for around R2000? It's similar to this one, but probably an older model as it doesn't have speed control.

So there's a lot of brick bashing at a neighbours house today; took a quick look and they have two arched garage door entrances which they're now squaring off and opening to accommodate a double garage door by the looks of it.

There's no lintels across either of these existing arched spaces, so can only assume it will end in disaster at some point; particularly when they remove the centre column.... Waiting for the crash of building collapse...

Technically they should be able to add temporary support before adding lintels. Isnt that how all of these renovations are done?

Ideally you should chop out some bricks either side of the opening, above the existing walls, so you can get the lintel in place and then continue chopping out the bricks underneath to square off the opening..

That way the lintel is supported by the existing wall and you don't risk the bricks on top falling on your head..

^ this is what I was thinking @Tinuva

I suppose, but they also seem to be chopping away at the two outermost sides, with no temp support anywhere, nothing squared off either.
