Cheers. It's definitely sending power to the thermostat. The thermostat's live terminal is burnt out Wondering how come it never tripped. So hoping it's just a simple case of replacing the thermostat. Well i'll start there first :D

Can anyone recommend a bathroom renovator in the Randburg/Northcliff area. Small 1st floor bathroom but needs a complete overhaul.

For shits and giggles.. I blasted my pool contractor this afternoon and basically informed him he has to come and redo all the paving from scratch.

He is still trying very very hard to tell me that the topsoil in my yard is very good to be used for construction and baselayer compacting and such... numpty.

I’d wish so, it’s a gorgeous specimen of evergreen something, but grows way too fast, there was a thatch Lapa there less than a year ago and this thing is basically well into where it was in less than a year.

Need a pro feller to sort out the palms and clear our brush as well, my building helper has done a lot of cleaning but not comfortable in asking him to take down major branches for safety. This tree should be about 50% and still provide a screen to the neighbours

Surprisingly when we got here it looked worse and my pool guy basically had it clear over a weekend. Needed some balancing but was clear as day post a full day filling and vacuuming with constant motor running.
 
Quick question, parts of the blue tile rows above the waterline in our pool have gone this opaque white colour when dry; the upper part is fine though. When wet, they are still blue. What causes this and how do you restore to the blue colour when dry?

Looks like a build up of chemicals, as it dries in the sun.. the top row likely doesn't see much water or sun to be affected..

Have you tried scrubbing with a brush to see if it comes off..?

It's pretty much the only way to resolve it.. Something that needs to be done every few months.

Thanks; yes tried with a pool brush and it looked like it had cleaned off until it dried. May try a harder bristle brush on the weekend, but also don't want to damage the surface - looks like it's more fiberglass finish rather than ceramic tiles - Ill have to take a closer look again ;)

I'm sure the pool shop gave me some sort of acid and you had to wear gloves when applying.

If it's a fibre glass pool, it's more than likely a sticker that's placed into the resin layer and not actual tiles..

this, 100%.

if it were me i would try a drill brush to remove the "scum" on the layer, nothing too harsh though.

But ultimately it looks as if it MAY be a calcium build of some sort, so you would need to get some sort of solution that will break that down, just be careful of what you use if its a fibreglass pool.
 
I'm soon going to be doing a proper carport and getting rid of this shadeport. Do you think it's worth trying to sell?

Haven't measured but I think it's like 6x3m.
