And I've officially kicked the contractor off site.. The paving wasn't even vaguely atrocious, it was laid directly on the soil and soil with a smattering of concrete was swept into the joints... I'm quite literally pulling the paving up and brushing it with my hand and it's as if it's never been laid down at all.
Yoh! How did you select them ? Hopefully not a recommendation..

Very much a recommendation and also they said all the right things before hand in terms of what they were going to do, and then proceeded to do none of those things.

What would be the best way to resolve this marks on stone counter tops?

Not sure what caused it, randomly appeared this week. Some feel slightly rough, checking with a micrometer, it drops below the general surface area if that makes sense.

I'm assuming the polish/sealant has somehow been damaged.

That honestly looks more like someone his spilled something on the surface that etched the top polished surface.

I suspect something like this, a cleaning chemical of sorts - we're using a cleaning company while our full-time help is on maternity leave - and so far all they've done is piss me off.

lemon juice will etch marble. Not sure what your surface is made of

Yeah, looks like etched from something.. can't be resolved without being polished up again..

That's the problem with this cleaning company - they just dont give a ****, no matter how many times you tell them. (they've left wet clothes on 20k speakers - which they're not meant to touch, burnt clothes, repeatedly cleaned our fireplace they're not supposed to touch, broken various things throughout the house, etc)

I told my wife this week they're on their last warning - then we must do without somehow.

Should have gotten rid of them long ago.

What is a normal price to install paving? Was just quoted R3.5k for 4 square meters by a local contractor. I thought that was ridiculous.

That is ridiculous, I paid 20k for 45 sqm

It's about double the going rate, however, it's a small job in comparison to what most contractors are used to, so to make it worth their time they will increase the price.. I have had contractors refuse to quote because the job was just too small and not worth their time..

Absolutely mental.

Granted I've kicked the retarded lying sack of shyte contractor off my site but his quote was in the right ballpark of 270 per sqm with me providing the paving bricks.

But if its just 4sqm, then do it yourself, it will be much cheaper and something you can do over 2 weekends without any stress.

This is the reason. Too little m2 so he had to bump the price. Maybe look at adding some more to get a more reasonable m2 price.

Thanks! It makes sense that the job is too little for a contractor. I am going to buy the bricks and just do it myself. Already have the sand and levelled/cleaned the area.
