You reckon it is better than tiling the floor? Also, I heard some horrible rates for epoxy coating.
Purely in terms of dropping things on the floor and cracking a tile, it's definitely better.. some tiles are also porous and can absorb and stain spills and oil leaks etc..

If your garage is used purely for storage and you are not weekend warrior working on there every weekend or parking your ford/land rover in the garage, tiles would be fine..

Fair enough but after tiling, one can just cover the workstation area with some standard rubber mats. Tiles look absolutely fab. 1cm thick tiles are not going to break that easily with usual DIY stuff but I will probably find out.

Tiles do come with its own cleaning routine. That I agree. It has been just few days since tiling and it is definitely something to consider as we don't have a domestic.

If it works in walkaways, I don't see any reason not working for garage. How many times one moves car in and out of garage in a day?
My concern will be when / if one turns their wheels. How will it stand up to the intense friction of rubber on rubber and it pulling off the floor substrate.

I'll test it on a patch and see whether it works - received some rubberguard for mahala so will test it out at some stage

Let's chat about Roof Paint

Has anyone had this "new" rubber roof paint painted/sprayed on their roof?
My main concern is what happens in say 5yrs when it starts to lift does one just do the same or is there a nightmare awaiting in having to remove the old "rubber" before redoing?
Stay away x 1000000

I don't really want to tile/epoxy at the moment because I have other bigger and expensive projects planned for inside the house. I just wanted to give the floor a new lick of paint.

Pressure wash the floor, to get all flaking loose paint of the floor and paint with some stoep paint..

Okay, great, but also share why...........
I had my roof done.
WORST decision I’ve ever made ….
Continuous rework ….. now looks like sh$t after 4 years.
Then had his company declared insolvent.
You cannot redo it with normal paint afterwards.
Don’t listen to their clever sales pitches.
They must close their businesses.

What paint is this? I know the other poster said its Rubber paint but there's a few out there.

Well if you paint over that old paint that came loose, more piece will come loose and just lift the new paint too.
If you don't want to remove all the old paint take a scraper and sandpaper and remove all loose paint. clean properly. Then maybe one coat of good bonding liquid, ask your paint shop, if bonding liquid wil stick to that paint otherwise they will suggest some primer. Then paint with something like Durham Show Floor. It is very important to let it cure for a few days before you drive a car on it, not just being dry, it must cure.
All that said, few of these floor paint can handle a cars hot wheel in the hot summer from hot tar and fast driving. You stop in your garage and when everything has cooled down the paint stick to the tires and peel off when your drive again

But is it the actual product that's bad, or is it the company that applied it badly..? From the sounds of it, the company applying it badly might be the issue here..

I'd like to repaint my garage floor. It currently looks like this.

What's the best way to go about it? Do I need to remove all paint or just clean and put a new coat? What's the best paint to use and the best tools to paint with?
Why don't you just do interlocking mats on top?

I got a quote today of R42k for a 6m x 7m galvanized carport. Does this sound reasonable? This is for materials and installation.

Galvernize lip channel x9
Roofing Ibr 0.74 Zincalume 9x 7m
Closure poly board
Galvernize steel post x4
Galvernize L shape brackets
Gutter + down pipe
Galvernize screws
Waterproof
That's in line with quotes we got. We had a 6x9 carport, ended up paying about R40K including semi-clear polycarb sheets as well as IBR.

It is the actual product.
Rubber paint cannot be overpainted afterwards.
Just ask around in paint shops.
My roof is corrugated iron - and the preparation was done properly.

I'm in an old house with those massive oldskool black circuit breakers. The new ones are very much shorter. Is there an adapter to make them fit in my old DB board?

There are adapters available, just depends on the current rail type you have installed..

If you have Fuchs circuit breakers you have to get the CBI plates and then there is a plastic adaptor to DIN.
If you are replacing all the circuit breakers just rip out the old rail and install a DIN rail and get something to close the gaps on the cover.
Best would be to get a new DB box slightly bigger and install it over the old one.
