Make raised beds, thats what I did. Worked out well for me. Came to about 1k each for 1mx2m x1m (6m sheets + 2 x 3m poles), and I got them cut at the lumber yard, just needed to screw together and cast a bit of cement for the poles.
It is kind of difficult in a townhouse garden unless stand is 500sq.m plus and double storey house to have more land. If we move to a standalone house, I plan to do this although chances of us moving are extremely rare.

Ah, ok. I'm in more of the I have so much space I don't know what to do with half of it issue!

Then smaller planters it is. Why not just make out of wood then, and line with plastic? Will be a lot cheaper.

Can they lay down new flooring with an existing kitchen that I plan to remodel later? Will they remove the cupboards and install floor underneath so the new kitchen will have flooring in the correct places, or do I have to do the kitchen first?

I want to do the floors first and then at some point in the future redo the kitchen, but I don't want to have a flooring problem when I do it.

Contractors will do anything you want to - at a cost. Do you perhaps mean it is worth doing flooring & kitchen at the same time? IMO yes if you can afford it as then mess is one time and not two times on separate occasions. If you do it separately, your kitchen will be mostly unusable both the times.

We plan to redo kitchen next year as well and been thinking about the mess our simple garage makeover made.

No..

They will do the flooring up to the edges of the cupboards.. when you redo the kitchen later, you are then left having to plan your cupboards according to the new floor..

Do the floor when you are ready to do the kitchen.. so while your new cupboards are being built/waiting for delivery, do the floors and the new cupboards can go over the new floor..

This would be ideal, but I want to redo the whole house's flooring, and adding a kitchen renovation means saving up much longer. This is also an option.

I was wondering if they could do the flooring and I keep my old kitchen, but then can upgrade it later and change the layout and still have flooring in the right places i.e. the whole floor stretching underneath the cabinets.

This might be the best solution, and that way they can put the flooring underneath the cabinets, not installed around them, making for a cleaner look.

You could do the flooring first and just go up against the existing cupboards. Keep enough extra though so when you replace the cabinets you just complete the sections underneath the cabinets first and then put new cabinets on top.

It becomes complicated depending on what flooring you have, what you want to put in, and if a previous owner has already tiled over the previous tiles in the past. But removing the cabinets to put complete new flooring in and then putting the old cabinets back is a lot of effort and you will likely end up breaking some of it.

I would be worried that if I did that, once I do the kitchen the new flooring wouldn't line up properly. It's not likely that their would be massive differences in the layout of the kitchen though. The main things might be that the fridge changes position, but the cupboards would still be taking up the same amount of space on the floor.

I'm looking at vinyl flooring throughout, except for bathrooms. Seems weird to have wood-look floors in bathrooms. I'd rather keep tiles there.

All vanities are po3s expensive these days... redoing my bathroom, and the vanity (without basin or top) was R5k near as damnit.

Did you look at ClearCube? Quality was good but then like you say they're expensive.

EDIT: haha unless you've already finished the bathroom :D

Yeah, for those prices, I can buy two sheets of marine ply, three basins, taps, relevant hardware and build two vanities for my en suite and main bathroom..

Sjoe, what a win :) and its your hobby too.

Some of these manufacturers of these vanities are making serious markups, especially the ones made of chipboard and acrylic basins and you are still paying over 10k for something like that..

Had looked at them actually, and none quite suited what I needed...

Vanity with basin, top and tap is going to end up around the R10k mark all on its ace

That chipboard stuff is everywhere, absolute rubbish

Is there something that I can paint this with to weather proof it for hanging outside in direct sun/rain ?

Ok so finally done with the hard graft of hanging 56 nutec panels. Now to complete the painting - followed by landscaping.

pool pump area will also get a nutec cover box with gas rider lid.

Still looking for smart led back lighting before I complete the landscaping - any ideas?

So, this gives me one possible idea for a “problem” I have.

My boundary wall backs on to a school - where kids walk only during some classes. Not super busy. But sometimes annoying because kids will be kids.

I wanted to extend the wall higher. But that means speaking to school and coin or. I’m wondering if the grey panels you have will work out better.

Where do you get them from?
