What was the cost for the isoboard..? I need insulation and my roof truss spacing is not well suited for the isotherm and think pink rolls.. trusses are spaced far too close together and it's a massive mission to cut those rolls of insulation down the length..

Seems it would be far easier to just pop in new isoboard ceiling instead..
It's a bit rough.
  • Isoboard: R15k with R2.5k for delivery. 92 sq/m (3.6m x 0.6m x 30mm thick)
  • Fscking R7.2k for installation of the ceilings.
  • 20L paint, still have left. R1100
  • R1500 for fuel for my guy working at our holiday home to come and do the painting.
I am seriously impressed by the stuff. When the costs started picking up I started to wonder if the Isoboard will have the desired impact on the heat under the roof. Was thinking maybe I should have gone isotherm instead.
But I am happy with the end result.

Thanks..

I need around 105sqm, so now I know more or less what I am in for..

Did you go 30mm boards or thicker..?

Went 30mm. They come in different lengths as well so calculate what you would need with minimal waste and order accordingly. And order direct from Isoboard.

How do people deal with this.

I have a door frame with size 755mm from left to right.

Standard door size seems to be 813mm or 762mm wide.

My understanding from reading the instructions, you can trim up to 5mm on each side.

So I messaged doorsdirect on their WhatsApp.

I had the same issue. The carpenter cut one side off to the correct size. Took the offcut and chisled the masonite off and cleaned it nicely. Then placed the piece back in the side with glue and some panel pins. Looked like it was made that way after.

The ceilings under the carport roof are done. I am happy. And the unbearable heat in there has disappeared. That Isoboard stuff is legit. I am wondering if its even gonna be worth it to still do the back of the garage door with the allububle. I bought one 40m roll and only need 10m if i decide to do it.

I measured the inside of the garage door temp and it reached 50 degrees, not sure if my theremometer can go higher or if that was the actual temp. Kak hot.

Hi All, can anyone recommend a decent belt sander, not in the price range of Makita

Remember you get what you pay for.

I inherited a Metabo from my grandfather that never skipped a beat in its life.

Bosch would be decent here too.

I bought this one - but for much cheaper than the current price. Basically thought even if it only.wotks once it's still worth it. But it's actually been just fine in doing quite a few jobs around the house. Yes that's R150 for the unit

My water pump controller for my backup system started leaking. Opened it up a few times and reseated the diaphragm rubber inside and closed it up, would last a few days then start leaking again. Yesterday it started pissing out everywhere so I closed the valves and went hunting for a new one this morning.

Takealot etc has the same ones and better ones but I couldn't wait so I found another Ingco one in town. Replaced it and all good. No leaks. I replaced my 2 water pressure gauges as well.

They give a reading from muni side pressure and then another reading after the pressure-reducing valve that feeds the house. So I know how much pressure is being pumped into the house. Sometimes the bottom gauge would read around 10 bar.

Did you just replace the controller or both pump and controller?

OK so you always had an ingco pump.
Yes, Ingco pump and controller. Would have liked to get a different controller. This one that is FUBAR hasn't even really done any real work and it's moertoe. Hope the new one lasts longer. Time will tell.

Does your pump only turn on when municipal pressure lowers or do you have the pump feeding all the time?
I'm planning to put in a municipal backup in the coming month or 2, but trying to decide if I should use the pump 24/7 or only to pickup when pressure is low.
im considering an adendorff pump because of price and generally their support/repairs are good for their macafric range.
The ingco pumps I saw were more expensive so haven't considered them.

I flip a valve and switch the pump on then it starts pumping the muni-stored pump water into the house. So no it only runs when I want it to run. You can connect it so it runs the whole house 24/7 and it kicks in when you start using water in the house but I don't want that.

Regarding the pumps, I guess it's pretty much same same. Most of them come out of the same factory with different branding.
