Nice! Did you buy them in a kit?
Those are some fine batteries. I have different versions of the middle two tools and they're such solid performers.
4 separate purchases with some specials in the mix. That saw weighs double than what it looks like on the pic. Lets go trees

Ok I did a thing. Well i plan on doing a thing

Nice, these kinds of pics always make me wanna jump into the battery tool rabbit hole. I start googling etc for hours on end. Trying to decide which brand to go with and then I realize I don't need any of them, right now. So I bin the idea, close the 35 chrome tabs I have open, and carry on with life. Until the next time hahaha.

I have 1 Bosch battery drill that has served me well over the years. So I always think I have to go with Bosch again. Maybe one day.

My biggest issue with the battery route is that you sorta lock yourself into an ecosystem (unless you don't mind having multiple chargers and batteries). Personally I love the Bosch stuff, but they don't have all the tools that I'm interested in. So that means another brand with its own branded fluff to go with it. So I just give up and don't get any of it (except for the cordless drills)

Exactly, the eco system. You have to think long and hard about wich one you gonna take. That's why I also just leave it till the lus goes away.

So 4 months down the road from my house repainting and maintenance I noticed that wall began making bubbles again. And it is on the patches that they repaired and treated etc. It would have taken longer to get to this stage if they just left it.

It's that fscking creeper ivy plant on the other side. The wall on that side is totally fscked by the plant. They don't see it cause the plant is in the way. So all the watering of the garden and the ivy gets sucked straight into the wall.

Eish - I also realised recently that I have a bit of a damp problem on my property - water ingress from small(ish) hairline crack on outside structural wall that has caused some creeping damp on outside and small bit on inside of the wall...guess I will have to elbow grease and ask for advise on the best method to open, seal, treat and close the bloody hairline cracks and treat the damp before it spreads any further...

Just put this "best herbicide for ivy creeper" into Google and Bob's your uncle.

After my dismal attempt at installing one of these shade nets that I bought from builders, I got one made and installed. Much better than my poor skills.

Does anyone want a Kalahari Extreme Shade Sail, 5m x 3m in charcoal color?
Make me an offer I can't refuse and I will include shipping.

The one I bought from builders was too small for my application.

Hey everyone. My pool pump seems to be leaking from that area encircled. Anyone have any idea how it can be removed to check. Have been able to open up the other parts and check but this eludes me. Also can the pump be removed from the base tray without lifting up the tray? Thanks for any assistance images (15).jpg

you are going to have to split the housing and there are bolt "holes" on the side you need to work on, easiest honestly will be to remove the pump to work on it.

you are probably going to have to replace the seal and some o-rings, while you at it might as well check the bearings.

Morning all
Hope everyone is well and safe today

needed some advice if possible
located in the southern subs of Cape Town
Looking to do some building work on the property over the course of this year but needing some builders/contractor recommendations as haven't done any buildings work for a long time.

our property which we bought in 2018 suited us as we had 4 bedrooms which sufficed. during covid we converted one of the bedrooms into study/work from home office space which we have been happy with as we use it pretty much mon to fri for either of our work from home purposes.

that said we no longer have a spare room for guests or family members when staying over.
the other drawback is that we have one en suite bathroom for the main bedroom at back of the house and the main bathroom or family bathroom is also the guest bathroom , or toilet for guests etc.

ideally we would like to add
  • additional small shower/toilet for guests
  • additional bedroom(possibly with shower/wc ensuite )
  • move a sliding door opening to increase size of living room
  • Pulling of tandem garage to front of property and then knocking through living room to back of "old garage space")
Due to funds i'm guessing some things would be easier as its single storey( i did find plans that were signed off to go up a level and build a room over the front part of the house but looks like owner didnt proceed )

wondering any companies that anyone knows in CT with references or images of work done.
anything i need to provide for advice?

thanks

Hi everyone

We recently bought a property in the JHB. Which is nearing the finalisation of the transfer process.

We are currently renting and noticed that whichever way things go, there is going to be a month where we pay both rent (1 month serving notice) as well as bond (1st of the month following transfer/bong registration.

So my wife and I were thinking of taking advantage of the period of time where we'll having access/occupancy to both properties (min 6 weeks) by starting with some renovations on the new house while occupying the current one, in order to minimise the disruption to our lives after we've moved in.

So I just wanted some advice on the following:

1) Is it worthwhile/wise to start with renovations BEFORE you move into a property.

2) How long does it typically take for architect to provide a concept design and drawing up of building plans.

3) How long do building plan approval take? Especially now that this new online building plan approval process was implemented?

4) Currently planning to extend a living room, add a scullary, build a garage and possibly other ideas that could emerge on the back of a conversation with the architect... Is it worthwhile to get a project manager for the constuction? If so who should do the PM work? the Architect, Structural engineer? Or other?

5) Based on the above planned build work, how long can one reasonably expect the project to take?

6) How much % should we budget over and above the quoted project costs?

Would greatly appreciate any advice we can get.

Damn I would be so pissed off if I were you

Not an improvement but a grudge purchase. 3 days without water last week and 2 days the week prior. Ordered this Saturday morning from Leroy Merlin and they delivered 4 hours later (on a Saturday) for the princely sum of R43. I kid you not.

Mains feed is done and all valves installed. Now I'm just waiting on the booster pump to come later the week so I can finish it off. There's space further down the wall to fit another tank, so I've already provided for that in the plumbing as I suspect the 2nd one will be needed sooner than I'm expecting.

While I'm at it, I think I should spring for a complete filtration system as well, seeing as I'm doing all the piping and would hate to redo that later. As things are I'm becoming a little suspicious of Ekurhuleni's water quality...

Did mine last week after 6 days without water in 2 weeks. Just need to finish up paving and fix 2 small leaks.

No pictures but spent some time in the roof redoing my network.
Installed two extra Unifi AP's, added new POE router next to CPE so no more cable in the corridor (SWAMBO was complaining about it). (Just realized I have 6 routers around the house?!)
Will have to buy some trunking to make it pretty but getting there.

When network is sorted home automation is next project.

Morning. Excuse the crude drawing... it's the best I could do :)

Black lines bottom and right is main house.
Black lines left and top is an open outside courtyard wall.
Blue circle is a washbasin's gully.
Yellow circle is a shower outlet pipe.
Red line is the current piping.

Question: I want to add on a scullery section to the house (dotted black line). I'm assuming I have to re-route the underground sewerage piping so as not to build on top of it, so would the new green line be OK?
