Lawn reno done. Now the wait.

Scalped it a bit. Then used the scarifier to de-thatch. Spike roller to aerate. Overseed with Kikuyu seeds I got from Grasses and Greens Suppliers. Lawn dressing and finally I put down some Omnia Greensulf 35 fertilizer. Then water.

Scarifying done.

3 weeks later.
I had the bottom blade of my cylinder mower replaced and then back lapped. It now cuts paper like scissors.
Smooth even cut on each blade of grass. No tearing.

Still a way to go before I am satisfied. I got moer baie bossies all of a sudden. I never had that problem. I am almost certain it is that kak Garden Master lawn dressing I used. Culterra is far superior. Wil not use it again.
So every week I spray all the bossies with super lawnweeder.

How do you repair something like this, I know you can replace beading, but the actual beam that goes through from one side to the other is split off the front (if that makes sense) - it is also AWOL, so cant be glued back.

Courtesy of our son, wreck it Ralph, who knocked the pane out yesterday.

This was my initial plan, I was hoping for something simpler.... I'm probably going to paint the door - if we keep it - it has a bit of damage from when one of our dogs tried to get in as a puppy. It's only been on the list for 12 years, so its almost time.

Bwahahahaha   poor lad, that was a nasty fall.

Imaginative play , and he is a cutie. Bet he keeps you on your toes.

He was fine, got up and tried again - became very distraught when I took the slide away. Little guy is aging me at a rapid rate.

And yes, never-ending, he has two modes, on and off. Up at 6am - down at 8pm... fortunately, he doesn't wake up inbetween those times.

Our daughter is the complete opposite. You could leave her alone in and room and come back 2 hours later and she's still where you left here. Leave him alone for 5 minutes and you won't have a room anymore.

Honestly don’t think there is a single product from Garden Master that isn’t a scam, Bought a whole house of products over the years, now made a call to gradually swap out their lawn connectors and sprinklers since each one leaks badly.

Saw my local builders doesn’t stock Gardena anymore but has stacks of Garden master.

Same issue with Garden Master, I don't even bother with their products now.

For sure they are kak. I switched to the Cellfast fittings and hose pipes. They are much better quality.
Garden Master is totally BS.

So in the progress of doing this, just using pine because I'm going to paint and not sure if its going to hold.

Is there an alternative to panel pins? I'm a little worried they won't hold... also when fitting the beading - I'm worried they knock the glued piece loose. (or when the door slams in wind, etc).

I've been trying to find screws of a similiar size to panel pins, but - not having much luck.

the problem is on that wood screws so small would likely not have much hold if you could even find them, if it is wood glued and clamped and possibly nailed with panel pins that wood glue will be stronger than the wood itself

The glue is what's ultimately going to provide the strength here, not the panel pins.. the panel pins are just there to keep it in the right place while the glue sets.. don't be afraid to add some clamps all along the length too..

If you really want a strong joint, you'd have to look at some jointing techniques, i.e dowels though I think this use case is too small for dowels.. other option is to route a channel that will allow you to put in a wider than you need piece.. or take wla wider than you need piece, cut out sections so you leave little nibs and drill some holes for those nibs to go into..

make sure you use a good quality waterproof wood glue as well..

Its been a tons of fun cutting a piece to fit...especially considering its only 8mm wide.

Haven't actually done the panel pins yet, plan on doing that next, probably going to drill a tiny guide for them. I suppose I could just do one every 10cm or so and hope it holds.
