Comments on vinyl flooring?

Our house has tiles from what feels like 1920. The edges of the grouting have become so sharp over the years.

Need something waterproof and durable. Received a quote for R400 p sqm from Floors Up incl installation and skirting.

Laminate wont work for our use case

I’m assuming you’d be laying down luxury vinyl plank.

I was super keen - me research indicated a good product but wife decided she didn’t want it. This was unfortunately only after I had bought 100sqm worth of it.

It now sits in the corner of the garage - we can chat if this is what you had in mind…

What concerns me is my entire cul-de-sac has the same exterior and incl windows and doors. It seems like everyone varnishes them? I've had the house for 2 years and the varnish is peeling off in the exposed areas and needs to be fixed before winter.

I'll probably start by getting someone to sand down the garage door and see (properly) what is underneath

Anyone who varnishes exterior wood should be hung with their own entrails.

Varnish doesn't protect wood exposed to the elements.

But! If it was varnished before, you kinda have to stick to varnish.

On my house I treat my wood with Rubbol...

I've been buying from Mambo's and the large ones were 195 when I bought them three years ago..

Yep same, from Mambo's.

I cannot remember what the large ones cost but I got one of the medium ones today and it was R72, which I'm pretty sure is more than I paid a few months ago.

Well you could 3d print the same bins. Found a model on makers world that can do the same things, hang or stack as you please.

But, the cost of the filament is not per say cheaper than just buying the bins.

Wait until you see that they make boards where you can clip the bins onto to hang from and they don't necessarily need to be stacked onto shelves...

I have a bunch of small ones, long small ones and 4 large ones.. likely going to pick up another 4 large ones to chuck various odds and ends into..

I would suggest give her a good scrubbing with your tool instead if you can, and she will be fine with your acquisitions.
