Any idea what options I have? This is the driveway

Getting cars in and out of the garage is going to be a pain (it is a lot smaller than it looks). I would like to break down the wall and extend the driveway so you can just drive straight in.
Hmm not sure. I would have a tough time dealing with a driveway like that. You need the space to be able to drive, park, and maneuver properly.

To me, that is effectively a one-car garage.
Definitely. This is the only thing holding me back from making an offer. If you can break the wall down and make the driveway straight down then all problems are solved.

Too many items up in the air that driveway would be a deal breaker for me and the issue is once you buy it, it becomes your issue when you want to sell.

How so? Seems like enough clearance for 2 cars, just the one on the right would need to be a decent driver :-)

Hi guys,

Any idea what a garage door service costs?

Also do you guys have your garage door serviced regularly?

I think its overdue on my door, hasnt been worked on in about 7 years when they replaced some wood which was rotting. At the moment, i see one of the panels seem misaligned, probably due to the fact that some of the screws for the joints have fallen out.

Hi all, we are interested in buying a house. But in front of the house there are storm drains like these View attachment 1772561

We would like to break these down and install flat drains so that the driveway can be used fully. Are we allowed to do this? Any idea of what the cost will be?
If its in a estate, which is looks, might be worth asking the HOA, if you in standard suburb then you gotta live with it

Id have no problem with that..

worst case though, break down the return section of that retainer wall and extend the driveway down to the pavement and then you have even more room to manoeuvre without touching the drain..

Probably the only way really

I have a pet peeve when it comes to parking cars in garages.
I have used my double garage as a single garage because of this. The tight spaces to park and get in and out of pisses me off.

Just me being full of kak. But that garage would be a deal breaker for me.

I'm based in JHB.

I never used to, until the tension in the spring got to a point that the whole door almost fell out - now I do it regularly (once a year).

I use the same guys that installed them, they are alu-zinc doors, IIRC, R750 for the call out.

That picture is a bit misleading, but yeah it is quite sloped. This picture gives a bit more context

That road is very dangerous with all those sharp bends. Head-on collisions are not fun

Go to the Muni with this story and convince them to make it a one-way as shown. Parking problem solved

What is the best / easiest product to smooth a small portion at the bottom of a wall where the paint has been scrapped off? About 60cm x 40cm.

I suspect when they painted the wall it wasn't clean, so the paint just pulled off.

Polyfilla (the powder) and paint?

Skim plaster.. sand really nicely, but also applies really nicely with a scraper, if you use a big enough one for the area..

Get one that's paint ready and once dry, simply paint over it.. will look like it was never there..
