If the nozzle can be adjusted

Going counter intuitive helps
A person thinks smaller is better but it is like pinching a hose pipe

So depends what is the problem quantity or pressure

good point, seems like pressure not flow so agree opening it more might help

Crusher stone is approx 1600kg per cube i think

Assume the pipe is 110mm
If using a 1 m biddum with 100mm overlap you would probably need approx 66kg per meter

And with a 200mm overlap about 49kg per meter

The bigger the crusher stones the better all about the space in between

How i got to it
width of biddum -ovelap / by 4 to get a side

Multiply by itself to get volume

Subtract pipe volume

Everything is rounded just for a ball park figure

Have not encountered so no idea what the spray pattern should be

I assume the screw is an adjustment screw

Maybe it has a pinched o-ring
Put something over the drain incase something falls out ie a spring or ball or whatever it uses to restrict and turn it all the way out to see

Can put some silicone on it for a temp test

Sometimes with narrow slits/jets if you get debris in the pipe that gets lodged in the jet portion you also get funny spay patterns

Pool non return/check valve. Should prevent water from flowing back into the pool. My main problem is that the motor for the pool is around 1m above the pool itself. So water flows back down and leaves an air gap. Probably shouldn’t be happening since it’s a closed system, but recommendation from Gus pools (great gent - even though I was out of his area of Fourways and Lonehill he was patient and gave me a lot of good advice)

He suggested a check valve to prevent the water flowing back. My issue was that it would take 10-20 mins before the water would start flowing. The cost of moving the pump is eye watering, but I’ve had 3 1.1kw pumps in as many years and the issue has been running dry over time leads to the pump overheating.

My main concern is that the recommended installation point is as close to the motor as possible, and I have the perfect spot for that but I also would have thought ideal would be at the lowest point where the water would ordinarily not flow back so the same level as the pool.

Anyone dealt with this before and any tips, is my thinking wrong and I should just trust the norm?

it will keep the water in ie like when you can turn a bottle up side down and the vacuum holds the water

Since it is on the dirty side if leaves branches etc gets stuck in the spring and lodges over the rubber seals it doesn't work as long as the weir basket catches the big stuff all good but if it is torn and big stuff goes to the pump and tou are bad luck it can happen

Naturally murphys law will let it happen when you are away

It happens seldom you have to be bad luck

Thanks for the reply - yeah that’s pretty much the main reason I got the one with the “window” I can unscrew and unclog when it does inevitably get blocked.

I actually went to a pool shop selling the normal grey unit and they were quite clear in saying it will clog up.

How much did this cost? And where did you buy it from?

I have the same problem. Pump is higher than the pool and thus the water flows out.
Where did you get this?
 
Any advice on how to handle the old layers of paint?
It would be great if I could easily get them off and repaint primer.
