The I hate Eksdom thread

@chrisyelland: The cost of unserved energy of this lil Eskom “human error” at Koeberg is estimated to have cost the productive economy of SA R7,5-billion

Someone - probably not suitably qualified ... made a Ballzup

@chrisyelland: Unit 1 at Eskom’s Koeberg nuclear power station tripped on 1 Feb due to an earth fault on the generator transformer caused by human error

F... me !!!

Shorting out the system with an aluminium ladder wasn't it ?

Wonder if the perpetrator is eligible for the Darwin Award ?

So - no power at 08H00 today ....

Calls in, am told - your area missed the slot so we are shedding you now?

I hate Eskom

Frankly, this thread is not just childish. It's offensive.

Sure I understand the frustrations, the outrage even. But expressing this hate, whether from spleen or bile, needlessly darkens the intellect and corrodes the community solidarity we require to move ahead.

I don't hate Eskom. Not one bit.

But I do have an issue with the politicians who've made Eskom their playing.

Let's hold the right people accountable. It's the pols, not an enterprise like Eskom. Let's hold their feet to the fire instead of blaming one of their victims.

The problem causing rolling blackouts now is due to lack of maintenance.

That has nothing to do with politicians and everything to do with Eskom.

That depends on how far up the casual chain you want to go.

If an owner installs incompetent managers and drives away skills, the problem really lies with the owner. It is silly to shift the blame to the incompetents.

@chrisyelland: Eskom was unable to bring back the 930 MW Unit 1 at Koeberg onto the grid today as planned, so Unit 1 will now stay off for further 3 months
The fault wasn't planed. However, it was planned that on the 9th of February that it would go offline for 3 months.

Then dont contribute and ask the mods to lock it.

If you feel that I am not entitled to an opinion, then fine, who am I to argue with you?
Of course you're entitled to an opinion.

It just doesn't help to hate the org that in any case has to fix this and deliver the power.

Direct you ire at the pols.

Theres an old Bob Carter saying that goes “Poor planning on your part does not necessitate an emergency on mine.”

Would I say this directly to Eskom - yes.

Have I done so in person - yes.

Am I responsible for the crisis we now face - no.

As much as I hate to admit it, Sir Arthur is right.

Some may find that your comment is not just childish. It's offensive.

Me personally, I feel for you, along with a few million other South Africans who hate Eskom right now.
