The iOS 10 Thread/Discussion

They are pulling out some OTA updates, but you can't download user manual in book format for 10.2.1 anymore. I had to re-download user manual for my current iOS version, but my purchase had been redirected to version 10.3. What idiot are doing that?

Finally updated my Air 2 to 10.3, it's running smoother than the previous update, battery life seems to have improved to.

First day or so my battery life was mad on my Air 2, lost about 40% in a couple of hours. Battery life has settled down nicely now, and does seem better for me as well.

Update a few days ago and now exiting apps is a lotto, you can press the home button and sometimes nothing happens.

Have you noticed how much bigger app updates suddenly is, I guess because of the new file system? Biggest I've seen so far was Facebook's latest update being 320 MB, Facebook updates was always smaller than 200 MB. Not complaining, just find it interesting.

I have also noticed this, the apps are huge in size now.

I think it may just be a bug where the update size is displayed incorrectly. It's displaying the size of all the variants available for download. I.e. The full iTunes variant and not the device specific variant.

Busy updating, installation takes longer than what the 30 MB download did.

Apple releases iOS 10.3.1 with bug fixes & improved security for iPhone & iPad, incl. 32-bit devices

Apple has just begun rolling out iOS 10.3.1 for iPhones and iPads. With Apple’s iOS 10.3 release we saw a lack of support for 32-bit devices, but that’s changed with today’s update. iOS 10.3.1 brings back support for 32-bit devices and is available for the iPhone 5 and 5c. Release notes for this particular update are light, only noting bug fixes and security improvements.

Today’s update follows Apple’s release of iOS 10.3.2 beta 1 last week for developers. As some readers had pointed out at the time, it appeared Apple had skipped 10.3.1 and went straight for 10.3.2. Apple’s developer site also lists 32-bit devices, like the iPhone 5 and 5c as available to receive today’s update as well.

iOS 10.3.1 includes a Wi-Fi vulnerability fix discovered by Google’s Project Zero:

Wi-Fi

Available for: iPhone 5 and later, iPad 4th generation and later, iPod touch 6th generation and later

Impact: An attacker within range may be able to execute arbitrary code on the Wi-Fi chip

Description: A stack buffer overflow was addressed through improved input validation.

CVE-2017-6975: Gal Beniamini of Google Project Zero

Decided to update via iTunes, 2.35GB on the Air 2, took about half an hour to process, it did seem slower than in the past.
