The iOS 11 Thread/Discussion

iOS 11 Beta 2 WARNING: Please be warned guys, beta 2 has a serious problem. You cannot roll back to iOS 10.3.2. I had an issue whereby my App Store was not connecting no matter what I did. I tried rolling back to iOS 10.3.2 and my phone got bricked. Tried again and no go. Read up about it and it seems to be an issue with beta 2. The only way to downgrade is to first downgrade to iOS 11 beta 1 and then downgrade again to iOS 10.3.2. This has taken me all night to do, so I do not suggest upgrading to iOS 11 beta 2.

In fact, after this debacle, I am done with betas. The only beta I will install is 10.3.3 beta 4 because of how fast and stable it is. I will be giving iOS 11 beta's a skip.

If tried multiple times to downgrade from 11beta 1 to 10 with no luck....

It pretty much goes without saying.

But why would you want to roll back anyway? It’s pretty solid.

Just keep a charger handy as they always rape the battery.

Good idea, I think people running Dev beta on a daily driver are being stupid.

Only if it doesn’t work.

In this case it’s quite solid.

Much more so than precious iterations.

But you wouldn’t know that if you didn’t try it.

I tried it on my spare iPad, it's still full of bugs.

Even for the spare device I only use when in the lounge it wasn't good enough and I downgraded it back to iOS 10 for now.

Oh right. iPad version has way more new stuff so that makes sense.

iPhone version is pretty solid. I haven’t had even a single full restart crash happen.

Actually haven’t had any crash that I can think of.

Sluggishness here and there but that’s expected.

Files is very cool with one glaring issue in my opinion is that you need the relevant cloud service apps installed to link them to the system.

Meaning it’s firstly a waste of space and secondly more useless icons sitting around actually doing nothing.

My App Store stopped working and kept on getting an error: Cannot connect to App Store.

None of my apps were downloading so my phone was basically useless, had no other choice but to roll back.

iPad or iPhone?

I hope this was removed just for the Beta & not for the GM. I use it frequently.

Apple launches public betas of iOS 11 and tvOS 11

Following the June 5 release of developer-only previews of Apple’s four main software platforms at the Worldwide Developers Conference, the Cupertino giant today released first public betas of iOS 11 and tvOS 11.

You must enroll in the official Apple Public Beta Software Program (available at no charge) and download a special configuration profile via the website beta.apple.com to your iPhone, iPad, or the fourth-generation Apple TV.

Sign in with your Apple ID through the website to get started. iOS 11 public beta has the same features as iOS 11 beta 2. The same goes for the tvOS 11 public betas.

After installing a configuration profile (click “Enroll Your Devices”), restart your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or the fourth-generation Apple TV, then and use the built-in Software Update mechanism in the Settings app to download and install the public beta.

watchOS betas are not available to the general public.

“If you were testing a prior operating system, please re-enroll your device to start testing the next release,” the company notes.

Be sure the check out the official system requirements for iOS 11 before installing their public betas. tvOS 11 requires a fourth-generation Apple TV.

Will you be taking iOS 11 and tvOS 11 for a spin, do you think? If so, what features are you looking forward to the most, and why?

Will be waiting for the next public beta before trying, I unfortunately only have `1 iOS device which is my daily driver.

Loaded Beta 2 for IOS 11 on iPhone 7 and the battery life is a LOT better than the 1st release.
