As if the battery drain issues were not enough to make my blood boil. They add a 'feature' that when I turn Bluetooth OFF from Control Center, it fkn secretly puts Bluetooth back ON. :wtf:
More of a general iPhone question not iOS11 specific, though keeping future software updates in mind as well.
If you have to choose a iPhone now, of the slightly older ones will you go 6s or SE? As I see it the main difference between the 2 is the screen size, then the 6s also has a slightly better front and back camera I think. Rest is the same, a9 chip, same RAM, same storage sizes, same Wifi and Bluetooth. Same touch ID generation?
iPhone 6s was Sept 2015 and SE was March 2016. Both currently have very similar pricing on contract.
My mother needs a new phone, upgrading from Galaxy S5 but she has a iPad and likes iOS. She doesn't need the power of a iPhone 7 or 8 and anyway don't want to pay so much.
I have siri disabled so its definitely not that.![]()
Because they are extremely useful and allow you to disconnect from individual WiFi networks or Bluetooth devices. Far more useful than the old on/off only method previously.
I can see your point on it being more useful than a straight on/off. The reason I'm finding it frustrating is because it re-connects to the same Bluetooth device without any kind of 'cooldown' period.
Your on WiFi though
Your on WiFi though
It’s on WiFi now because I’m now at home, it’s been on cellular for at least half the standby time, do you think cellular is some sort of battery sucking monster that is 10x worse than WiFi?
Well yes, because when it's not at full signal it rapes battery.
Also it takes a bit more battery in general to make it work over say just using the passive Wifi alternative.
I’ve never seen 10x normal battery use when on cellular, not even with the weakest signal.
Nah it won't be like 10x but it will be significantly worse than being on WiFi all day.
Which is why they show it in the Battery menu as "low signal" to describe the anomaly.
Would be interesting to see what happened with battery life if one were to disable Mobile Data all day while on Wifi. Would be a pain though.
Would have made for a nice automatic option to say Disable Mobile Data when Using Wifi, although I guess technically it is already doing that but not exactly disconnecting from the APN.
By the way, I never disable WiFi, mobile data, Bluetooth etc, and have been on mobile data since early this morning (likewise yesterday).
I’d say the problem with his phone is a fracked battery, not iOS 11...
Yeah quite likely. Or some other anomaly coming to the fore now.
Could for that matter even be a Widget that hasn't been updated. Although I'm sure those would show up under own App usage but may not be the case and register as Home/Lock instead.
In that case change Backgroud App Refresh to WiFi-only and see if that improves your life.
Done. Let’s see
