The iOS 11 Thread/Discussion

My X is really warm during and now after the update.

Wonder what it is upto.

iOS 11 adoption reaches 59%

Apple has revealed its latest iOS adoption numbers. The data shows that 59% of the iDevices are already on iOS 11, which is an improvement from the 52%, measured back in the beginning of November.

One-third of iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices are still on iOS 10, while 8% are running an earlier versions of the Apple mobile OS. The smallest piece of the pie chart includes devices like the iPhone 5C, 3rd generation iPads and 4th gen iPod touch which are no longer getting software updates.

Face ID not working on iPhone X after updating to iOS 11.2? A reboot should fix it

Some iPhone X owners are reporting that Face ID is not working after updating to iOS 11.2, which was released this morning. The iPhone X instead shows an alert that says it is ‘unable to activate Face ID on this iPhone’. Luckily, the fix seems to be very simple — reboot your phone …

The Face ID problem does not affect every phone — I successfully updated from iOS 11.1.2 to iOS 11.2 and Face ID worked without issue — but the number of people impacted by this bug is meaningful, with several reports from 9to5Mac readers and countless more online.

In most cases, simply turning off the iPhone X and turning it back on again will make Face ID activate successfully. It is reassuring that this is not a persistent issue.

Must be coincidence, but after i upgraded tot he latest build. The phone restarted and i noticed, a tiny little purple haze on the left hand side corner. Its not bad and i can only see it when the screen is blur. Weird right? I love my Iphone but glad i picked up my Note 8 this week.

K....my phone is turning to Bull S by the hour, after doing the update. Drooping calls. got a message storage full and still has 2 gigs available. I try to backup to the cloud and it fails every single time.

I think my Iphone is jealous, i picked up my Note 8.

I'm on 11.2, no issues after a restart.

On an unrelated note, I'm the proud owner of a TicWatch E. Works quite well paired to the iPhone, but I can't help think my next upgrade will be Android again.

I have the "disconnect from wifi and then LTE doesn't work" issue again on my iPhone 7+. Only noticed it today here at work, so will test when I am at home as well. I am running 11.2.1 and using a VC sim.

Switching airplane mode on and then turning it off again does fix the problem, but what a schlep.

Having the same issue on public beta 11.2.5 build 2 - real pain.

New iOS has really made my SE crappy, thinking of swapping to Android

Something I haven't paid attention to for a long time since I have a 128 GB iPhone 7.
Yesterday a colleague says his iPhone 6 16 GB is quite full, so I have a look. Under iPhone Storage right at the bottom System shows as 8 GB. On my phone System shows as 11.3 GB, but as I said this doesn't bother me since I have 128 GB storage which is only around halfway after a year.
8 GB taken up by system on a 16 GB phone is quite a lot, am I correct to assume that this is cashed documents and data files of all apps, old and new and that the only way to get rid of it will be to reset his phone and start fresh? I guess I can rather just delete all apps and reinstall again, but both will take equally long so might as well reset and start fresh.

Check under Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage. It will show there which app is using what amount of space. My bet is on whatsapp. :)

Considering I have a 5S which must be slower and currently trialling Android and wanting to kill myself...I can only say don't do it.

More so if you've never done Android before.

Phew, luckily I picked up an iPhone 8 at a ridiculous price on gumtree
