The iOS 15 Thread/Discussion

Yeah for me on 11 Pro Max it definitely has. Updated to iOS 15.1 Beta 4 and battery life continues to be great vs. 15.0.

My 12 mini battery life was so shocking on 15.0.1 I was contemplating going back to a bigger size phone, but has since increased to jaw dropping levels on 15.0.2. An incredible change.

With iOS15, using Navigator on an Ipad Pro, I am now getting a lot of pop-up ads that were absent before. So much that many web pages I frequent will not load

Privacy settings is set to stop adverts

Is there perhaps another setting that will allow Navigator to operate as it did? This also applies to Chrome

I really enjoyed iOS 14.8, but I'm on iOS 15.0.2 on my 12 Mini, and it's going well. I don't like Safari's new look, moved the address bar back to the top, but the extra animations make it seem clunky. I'd moved to iOS 15 initially, but the bugginess forced me to reinstall 14.8. Now the older version is unsigned, so no go now. Looking forward to iOS 15.1

Apple releases iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, watchOS 8.1, and tvOS 15.1 with SharePlay and much more

It has been in the works for weeks now, but the wait is finally over. Along with the public release of macOS Monterey 12, Apple has also released the next big updates for iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. Now, users with eligible devices at their disposal can download and install iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 for free.

As is par for the course, the previous beta seeds gave us a preview of what was to eventually arrive with the public launch. And, sure enough, Apple has included quite a bit with the public launch of iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1. Namely, and finally, Apple has released SharePlay into the wild. Along with that, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max owners will be able to control when macro photography takes precedence, and much more.

The updates to iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 are free, and they are available to download now as an over-the-air (OTA) update. To update manually, open Settings –> General –> Software Update and follow the onscreen instructions. If you have Automatic Updates switched on, then your device(s) will automatically download and install the newest software overnight while the devices are plugged into power and charging.

There seems to be a bug in "Find my (friends)" whereby alerts (x has arrived \ left location) that used to work previously, don't come up on my Apple Watch anymore despite the alert setting being correct (mirror phone alert to watch) and been redone as well. Both devices have been rebooted as well.
The notification pops up on my iPhone but not my Watch, which is inconvenient when I don't have my phone on me or not actively looking at it, but still want to know when person x leaves and arrives at certain places.

Apple releases iOS 15.1.1 with fixes for dropped calls on iPhone 12 and 13

Apple is rolling out iOS 15.1.1 to iPhone users today. According to Apple, this update “improves call drop performance on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models.” Head below for the full details on the update and build number information.

You can update your iPhone to iOS 15.1.1 a by heading to the Settings app, choosing General, then choosing Software Update. The build number for today’s update is 19B81. It clocks in at around 400mb in size on the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Apple’s release notes for the update are sparse. According to the company, the update only includes one fix:

  • iOS 15.1.1 improves call drop performance on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models.

Apple releases iOS 15.2, iPadOS 15.2, watchOS 8.3, macOS 12.1, and tvOS 15.2 with Communication Safety, Legacy Contacts, and more

Apple has been working on the next update for iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 for a bit of time now. Which means we’ve been working with a variety of different beta seeds over the last couple of months or so. But, now the company is ready for the public release.

Today is the day! Apple is finally ready with the public updates to iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2. These are free upgrades for the mobile operating systems, as is par for the course. To update, there are a few different options. You can head into the Settings app, then select General –> Software Update and follow the onscreen instructions to get the new software downloaded and installed.

Or, you can turn on Automatic Updates and let your device(s) go through the update process overnight, while they are plugged in.

But what’s new?

iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2 don’t add a ton of new features into the mix, but there are some important new additions. Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s new in iOS 15.2:
  • Apple adds the Messages Communication Safety feature, which is built into the Messages app on those platforms, and it serves to offer up warnings of potentially explicit photos being shared in the app. Both children and the parents will be notified of that potentially harmful material. Those warnings will be issued when a photo is shared to the child or sent from the child’s device.
  • iOS 15.2 adds the ability to quickly see a list of what has been repaired and/or replaced on your device, including batteries, displays, and more.
  • App Privacy Report is now available in iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2. This allows users to see just how often apps are accessing a range of sensitive information based on the permissions the user has allowed. That includes camera, location, and much more.
  • iOS 15.2 adds support for Legacy Contacts, which will allow someone to declare individuals as those who can access the “digital legacy” of someone who has passed away.
  • The new software supports a new feature in the Find My app called “Items That Can Track Me.” This allows users to quickly see if an item tracker, like an Apple AirTag, is near them — even if it’s not theirs.
  • iOS 15.2 adds a dedicated toggle in the Camera app to switch on or off the Macro photography mode.
One more new addition: Apple also released the Apple Music Voice Plan option today as well. This will allow customers to sign up for Apple Music at just $4.99 per month, with full access to the entire music catalog, playlists, and stations. However, the plan only works with Apple’s Siri voice assistant.

Ah cool, Zollotech guesstimated it would drop next week because RC is still out.

Love the fact that I can get an iOS update as soon as Apple releases it, instead of having to wait for Google to release Android to Samsung so they can add their bits, and then onto the various carriers in whatever order around the world who eventually filter it down to their users months later.
