The iPad2 tips and tricks thread

It makes thumb typing much easier. :)
Indeed.
Also undocking it is useful if you're trying to enter text near the bottom of the screen and you can't see what you're writing :P

Asus has a utility that sorts out USB charging for the iPad. I' ve been using since February this year with now problems. Here's a link:

Color me sceptical, but I cannot see how such a simple piece of software can bypass the current (amperage etc) limitations on USB ports... :erm:
I guess compared to Macs, PCs are indeed underpowered and just not capable of delivering. . . .:D

BTW - even if it's saying "Not Charging" when you plug it into the PC, it is, just very, very slowly.

Thanks to this one I don't need to take or leave an extra charger at work. It's been a life saver over the last couple of months :)

To see a recently closed tab in Safari, hold the "+" sign under the search bar at the top right and a little window will pop up showing your recently closed tabs.

Teamviewer (free) works a real treat on the iPad. I tested remote control of another windowsPC, no issues. You have a cursor which you can move round on the screen, and tap anywhere on the screen for a left click. Double-tap's supposed to do right-click, but it doesn't work with me. Instead, I used the right-click mouse icon, and that works.

It is great especially if you want to do remote support, but for remote work I'll prefer a proper laptop/notebook with proper mouse should it be serious stuff.

But the possibility is there.

Yeah I've been using the app on my iphone for a while now. Must be brilliant on the bigger screen.

I bought Splashtop last night.

So easy to set up and use.

Also got StreamToMe. Money very well spent IMO.

I just put together my own DIY stylus pen for the iPad.

Cost me nothing. Stylus pens in iStore cost up to R350.00.

Mine work just as well, if not better. I will make a better looking one later. Just fooled around tonight.
