The iPad2 tips and tricks thread

Nice, I assume the copper wire is to make it conductive so the iPad picks it up?

Yebo!

Used a normal Bic pen and took out the ink refill.

Got some conductive foam aka anti-static foam and attached the copper wire to that. Pulled it through the pen and then wrapped it around the outside. One or two contact points are enough but it looked really crappy so I wrapped almost the whole pen with copper. Trimmed the foam to resemble an original iPad stylus.

I actually saw it on YouTube a while ago. Can't find the video now.

Works awesome. And if I do lose it I will not feel bad. Max R5.00 down the drain. Not R300 for an original.

Don't laugh about my handwriting.

I had some lying around the office. It is the black foam/sponge that some electronics ship with. Especially computer chips.

The copper I stripped from an old grinder power cable.

You can actually use like one strand of copper wire. It will be enough. I just thought I will look slightly better with more copper.

There's copper in them Telkom phone cables.... :p :D

you have to be joking right, so the other day i updated my ipad to iOS5, so i thought ok let me update my ipod touch, so last night i download iOS5, takes forever on a 384k line, almost 700mb.

So this morning it is done and i want to update and guess what, iOS5.1 has been released, FFS

I think it's a small update, 60mb or so.

I am going to try and make a new Stylus tonight.

If I use an old stainless steel Parker pen I can chuck the the copper wire and any tape/soldering to hold that in place.

That will also give me the option to clip the pen into my shirt pocket at the office. And I can close the tip with the cap.

Of course it will look much better than my first little project. Just hope that people don't try it with working pens and bugger up their screens in the process.

This is the pen I had in mind:

Only problem is to find that dreaded Parker pen lying around in the house.

I just need to get hold of some conductive foam :/ and preferably for cheaper than I can get hold of a stylus
