The Isuzu D-Max Huntsman accessory pack has been put together for the professional huntsman and countryman of the UK. Available for the current generation double cab bakkie, still due for a local launch, the kit features a number of visual and comfort features.

As standard, the Isuzu D-Max Huntsman accessory pack offers consumers an Aeroklas commercial canopy, bed draw system, underrail bed liner, towbar, side steps, tailgate locking kit, tailgate assist, rubber floor trays and 18-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli all-terrain tyres.

Catering to the huntsman and countryman, the bed draw system of the Isuzu D-Max Huntsman accessory pack provides easy organisation for any tools and equipment that needs to be carried into the wild. For ease of use, the rubber floor trays ensure easy cleaning while the canopy makes storage safe and secure.

The all-new D-Max, which will be built locally, is only due for a local introduction next year due to complications caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The new model is powered by a “newly developed” version of the Japanese firm’s familiar 3,0-litre turbodiesel engine, with peak outputs hiked to 140 kW (at 3 600 r/min) and 450 N.m (between 1 600 and 2 600 r/min).

Isuzu UK has introduced a special Huntsman package for all its D-Max double cab bakkies that are specifically geared towards the outdoors and professional huntsmen.

The pack includes an Aeroklas commercial canopy, bed draw system, under rail bed liner, a towbar with 13-pin electrics, side steps, tailgate locking kit, tailgate assist and rubber floor trays.

Also thrown into the mix and aiding visual enhancement is a set of standard 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli rubber. When converted to Rands, the original £5 825 amounts to approximately R119 514, excluding any taxes.

Isuzu D-Max and MU-X to get more powerful turbodiesel engine?

Yet to arrive in South Africa, the all-new Isuzu D-Max and MU-X have been rumoured to receive a more powerful turbodiesel engine, if there is a demand. The increase in power will be provided to the firm’s 4JJ3-TC mill which is currently only available in two markets; Australia and Thailand.

According to Motoring, the turbodiesel 3,0-litre four-cylinder mill found in the Isuzu D-Max and MU-X was developed by the Japanese manufacturer to fulfil Australian demand but it does cater to the Thai and South African market as well. In its current state, the mill delivers 140 kW and 450 N.m of torque.

While this is a bump up from the previous generation’s 130 kW and 380 N.m output, it still lags behind the likes of the flagship Ranger and Hilux turbodiesel engines. To combat this, Isuzu’s general manager of product planning Takeshi Imanari says that a more powerful example will be introduced if demand is high enough.

Imanari-san says “We can’t talk about future model plans. However, we understand some competitors are offering such higher-output models … but we will keep watching Australian customer demand and if we can find demand to develop or to introduce … we will do it for the Australian customer.”

All-New Isuzu MU-X Confirmed for SA

Isuzu South Africa has confirmed that its bakkie-based 7-seater offroad family vehicle will be arriving on our shores before the end of the year.

The Isuzu MU-X is a 7-seater bakkie-based SUV that takes on the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest. Built on the Isuzu D-Max platform, the all-new Isuzu mu-X will be a big step up in comparison to its predecessor.

“The upcoming Isuzu MU-X is a game-changer for us, as it offers class-leading driver assistance technology, new state-of-the-art powertrains, and a luxurious interior designed for maximum comfort for seven occupants,” said Dominic Rimmer, Senior Vice President Technical Operations.

The all-new Isuzu MU-X will be sold with an arsenal of active/passive safety systems, plus modern connectivity solutions such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The cabin is said to feature luxurious fittings and soft-touch surfaces, to give the vehicle a bit more of a premium feel.

Will the all-New Isuzu MU-X be built in SA?

The new model will not be built in South Africa, but instead will be imported from Isuzu’s Thailand plant and will also be sold in other African right-hand drive markets. “We are steadily on track to launch the next generation Isuzu mu-X in South Africa,” adds Rimmer. “Vehicle testing was successfully conducted late 2020 and we continue to test the vehicle under a number of conditions to ensure it is suitably prepared for South African conditions.”

The second-generation Isuzu MU-X has been confirmed for a local introduction into South Africa by the end of this year. This model will be an all-new iteration of a product which garnered much favour amongst local buyers in a hotly contested segment.

Headlines are an array of driver-assistance technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and state-of-the-art powertrains, as well as soft-touch materials in the “exquisitely crafted” cabin. The exterior features a bold new appearance, too. The handsome seven-seater Isuzu MU-X will be manufactured in Thailand at Isuzu’s Samrong assembly facility and fully imported into South Africa for sale to our market, as well as other right-hand-drive markets in Africa.

“Vehicle testing was successfully conducted late 2020 and we continue to test the vehicle under a number of conditions to ensure it is suitably prepared for South African conditions.” Says Dominic Rimmer, Senior Vice President Technical Operations.

Rimmer also notes that dealer technical training has already commenced and that preparation of their Parts Distribution Centre in Gqeberha is in full-swing for the Isuzu MU-X. With over 30 000 line-items in stock, Isuzu says that service, maintenance and repair items can be ordered and delivered to dealerships within “a day or two”.

LOL I used to drive an Isuzu (work) bakkie back in the late 1990's early 2000's. At the time it was already about 10 years old. The KB Samurai. They came mainly in 2 x two tone colours. Two shades of blue and an orange / cream one. Just cannot find a picture of one. Anyone remember them?

Get ready, SA: Isuzu to launch all-new mu-X before year-end to rival popular Fortuner

• Isuzu South Africa confirmed its new mu-X will be launched come year-end.

• The mu-X is based on the D-Max bakkie, but local specification is yet to be confirmed.

• The mu-X rivals the likes of the Toyota Fortuner.

Isuzu South Africa confirmed the all-new mu-X would make its local debut before the end of 2021. Based on the Japanese automaker's popular D-Max bakkie, the SUV is a rival to the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest, with the second generation model looking to continue the fight for Isuzu in this very popular segment of the market.

While pricing and product specifications will be announced closer to the launch date, Isuzu SA confirmed that the SUV would be equipped with active and passive safety features, and that the multimedia system is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible. The exterior takes plenty of design cues from the all-new D-Max, which is expected to launch in South Africa in 2022.

While drivetrain details are not yet confirmed, it can be safely assumed that the new mu-X will adopt the same 1.9-litre (110kW/350Nm) and 3.0-litre (140kW/450Nm) turbodiesel engines as the next D-Max. Given buying trends, Isuzu may choose to, again, offer the mu-X with the six-speed automatic gearbox only, available in both 4x2 and 4x4 guises.

Outgoing model is pretty steep locally & the new one has a pretty big hike (going by Aussie prices).

A low mileage 1/2 yr old model brings some good relatively savings.
 
Wow, close to R97k more expensive than the entry level Fortuner but with no meaningful difference in spec? And the wonder why Toyota sells more cars than everyone.
