The Kempton Park Serial Killer thread

I heard about this on the radio this morning.

SAPS said they didn't want to jump to conclusions (serial killer), but preliminary investigations showed some similarities in how at least 2 victims were found/killed.
 
Public warning issued by SAPS.

On Saturday, the South African Police Service (Saps) warned women in and around Kempton Park, particularly the Rhodesfield area, to exercise extreme caution following the discovery of the bodies of five women in the same area over a period of approximately two months.

“Preliminary information gathered by detectives indicates concerning similarities in the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The bodies of the women were found half naked and with visible bruising, and the discovery sites are located within the same vicinity,” said Mathe.

“While investigations are still underway and Saps has not, at this stage, confirmed that the deaths are linked to a serial killer, the similarities are sufficiently concerning for the police to issue a public warning and intensify investigations.”

South Africa has had quite a large number of serial killers, considering its size.

I read books by Miki Pistorius and a book(interview?) with Gerhard Labuschagne. Both used to work for SAPS and investigated serial killers. Very interesting.
 
Hoping they catch this guy fast. Sounds like he must be operating in a vehicle as bodies are dumped aways away from where they run so hopefully a vuma cam system is up and running in Kempton and a query to correlate vehicle details from those 5 locations towards the dump sites could narrow it down and get this person fast. SA is a dangerous place for women to run alone sadly.

Back in 2019 I was visiting family in the Netherlands and late on Saturday night I was looking out the window of the flat we were staying in over some empty fields across from the flats. There was a lit footpath between the building and the bushes/farms. At around midnight a young women in perhaps her early 20's walked up that path completely unconcerned and with no other soul in sight. Was a sad moment for me to realize my daughter would never be able to experience a feeling of that kind of safety in a similar situation in SA.

Could also be more than one person, either a two man show, or a group (I have listened too much to my wife's True crime crap).
