So when will Lonmin be buyable on EE todaywant to buy small amount
A part of me is thinking of buying Lonmin using R5k. the reason is that I don't think commodity prices will remain low for eternity. Once the price of platinum starts increasing, the share price of Lonmin will also increase because it will be profitable to mine platinum now.
I remember a few years ago when the Telkom price was falling, and many people on this forum said they would never buy Telkom ever. The share price was at R60 I think, and went to as low as about R12. It started rising after bottoming from R12 to about R70. I learned my lesson as I didn't benefit at all from Telkom's share price rise.
Regarding Lonmin, the R5k will be money I'll be willing to lose (depends if I get a bonus or not.
Yes but there are bigger issues affecting Lonmin than just commodity prices...
When will people learn to read. That's not up, but near a 50% falljust checked IG trading and it says that lonmin is at R12.44
it had a 7000% rise!
wtf? is my trading account smoking crakc?
1+1 = 2 and not 10....
Bloombergwhat app are that?
Such as? Apart from AMCU, I don't see other bigger issues.
So AMCU and commodity prices, no?The rights issue, the lack of productivity, the profitability of the business as a whole etc etc etc....
LONMIN is a gamble at best right now, if its money you can't lose don't buy the shares.
Such as? Apart from AMCU, I don't see other bigger issues.
So AMCU and commodity prices, no?
1. Lonmin has been plagued with unrealistic wage demands and violent strikes. In fact, so much that there has been pressure from investors on the holding company to totally close operations in SA. Many believe that this will increase Lonmin in the UK if they take this move.
2. Government's lack of assistance in ensure favourable mining conditions is another problem they are faced with. In addition, corruption and continuous BEE and transformation pressure is setting the company back.
3. The company scaled down on its operations and closed down many units. They intend to scale down tremendously by 2017.
4.Lonmin has been criticized for its bad management here in SA, and actually abroad too. Bad management will eventually be the nail in the coffin for Lonmin.
5. There is not enough demand for platinum. Irrelevant of price. There is just too many Platinum players in the market dumping surplus reserves. Problem is, as many investors agreed, some need to go. Lonmin is the first and most probable candidate to go first. Even if Platinum price increases, this will not mysteriously save Lonmin.
