What happens to those who bought Lonmin shares if the company tanks?
They lose or get whatever is leftover after debtors are paid off. I think shareholders are last in line when a company goes under.

My prices are live. If you get quotes for free somewhere then its 99% likely that you're using 15 minute-delayed prices because the JSE charges for live quotesConfused, I checked EE site, it said 50c, bought immediately and after I paid it said 64c. How does that work?

Another question - what happened on Thu 19 Nov that caused the share price to go from 206c to 30c?
Standard Bank Online Share Trading and I get charged 15c for everytime I press F5 to get the latest Lonmin quotes.Where are you trading YingYang?
They offered shares at a 94% discount to raise money (shareholders approved the offer on that day) and that prompted a sell-off because people knew the share price'd collapse.

Not sure if you will understand any better, but it is a good intro on how companies raise capital. Companies that are doing well will typically offer their shares without dilution, but with guaranteed returns in vehicles called preference shares.
