Time for a new thread about Lynk & Co. They've got big plans. In case you don't know who they are:

"Lynk & Co is a Chinese-Swedish automotive brand owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Founded in 2016, its cars will be positioned between those of the Geely brand and Swedish brand Volvo, which was purchased by Geely in 2010. The focus of the brand is on internet connectivity and innovative purchasing models in certain markets, targeting the young professional demographic."

First heard of them watching race 1 of the world touring car champs this year. They certainly are making waves

Lynk&Co 01 PHEV 2019 review

Should I buy one?

Although Lynk&Co's conventional models are selling well in China, alongside the 01 PHEV, the brand will be electrified-only in Europe. Firstly with the 01 PHEV, which will be launched in some markets next year, then shortly afterwards with an electric model based on Geely's new, EV-specific PMA architecture.

We still have some significant unanswered questions about Lynk&Co's plans for what will primarily be a subscription-based distribution model in Europe, but the brand's products continue to impress.

Lynk&Co 03 Cyan Concept is fastest four-door at Nurburgring

Lynk&Co’s road-legal version of World Touring Car racer beats Jaguar XE SV Project 8 – albeit in concept guise

World Touring Car team Cyan Racing claims to have broken the front-wheel-drive and four-door lap records at the Nürburgring with its Lynk&Co 03 Cyan Concept.

A lap time of 7min 20.143sec marks a three-second improvement over Jaguar’s limited-run XE SV Project 8, which broke its own four-door record just last month. However, that car was in full production guise, while Cyan’s model remains a “mass production-based” concept for now.

The previous fastest front-wheel-drive record was held by the Renault Mégane RS Trophy R, which set a time of 7min 40.1sec ahead of its launch earlier this year.

The 03 Cyan Concept is a road-legal reworking of Geely-owned Lynk&Co’s World Touring Car (WTCR) racer, and is being tested as part of a development programme for what the company calls “an extended performance offer”.

The record-setting car was powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 521bhp and 372lb ft, but it is not clear if this powertrain will reach any kind of production beyond racing.

The 03 Cyan Concept is claimed to accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.4sec and on to a top speed of 193mph. Its claimed average speed around the circuit was 106mph.

Like the touring car on which it is based, it features a prominent front splitter, wide wheel arches, carbonfibre side skirts and a large rear wing.

Lynk&Co 03 Cyan Concept Sets Fastest Four-Door And FWD Time At Nürburgring

When you think of fast four-doors, you would probably think of the BMW M5 Competition or Mercedes-AMG E63 S but World Touring Car team Cyan Racing claims to be the quickest with its Lynk&Co 03 Cyan Concept.

The car managed to lap the Nürburgring in 7:20.143 which is a 3-second improvement over the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 lap record. However, the Jag was in full production guise while this model is still a “mass production-based” concept.

The other impressive aspect is that the car is front-wheel drive which means it is the fastest FWD car to lap the ‘Ring too. The previous fastest front-wheel-drive record was held by the Renault Mégane RS Trophy R, which set a time of 7:40.1 ahead of its launch earlier this year.

The Lynk&Co 03 Cyan Concept packs a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing a whopping 521 hp (388 kW) and 504 Nm of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes just 4.4 seconds and it will run to a top speed of 310 km/h.

Lynk&Co to launch in Europe in 'anti-car' Amsterdam

Announcement on UK debut for Geely-owned brand due at the end of this year

Lynk&Co, the Geely-owned 'Europeanised' brand with models built in China using platforms shared with the Volvo XC40, has chosen the Dutch capital to launch itself in Europe at the end of 2020, partly because of the city’s anti-car reputation.

“Amsterdam is a trendsetting city with a reputation for not liking cars,” said Alain Visser, CEO of Lynk&Co. “We think if we start there, we can demonstrate our cars’ convenience and suitability in modern situations. When we move to other cities, we’ll have some great marketing experience to draw on.”

Visser said he will announce by the end of this year when UK cars will be available but will only promise availability here “within the next two years”.

Lynk&Co will concentrate in Europe on selling its 01 SUV model, similar under the skin to the Volvo XC40, in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms, Visser said. Pricing will be close to Volkswagen levels, but Lynk&Co wants to attract both outright purchasers and those who prefer subscription deals. Under the latter, buyers can 'own' a car for as little as a month without penalty.

Lynk&Co 05: China-only BMW X4 rival revealed

Geely's ambitious, Europe-bound Chinese brand showcases its fifth model

Chinese brand Lynk&Co, which is owned by Volvo's parent company, Geely, has unveiled its fourth model, the 05 coupé-SUV.

The BMW X4 rival joins the 01 SUV, 02 crossover and 03 saloon in the line-up. A fifth model, a family hatchback called the 04, is yet to be revealed.

While only limited technical details of the 05 are known, it's based on the Volvo-developed CMA platform, like its siblings, and takes many of its styling cues from the similar-size 01. The 05 is 4592mm long, with a wheelbase of 2734mm.

Chinese XC40 Revealed

Lynk & Co's 05 is a Chinese version of a Volvo crossover.

Geely sub-brand, Lynk & Co, has revealed its very ambitious cross-coupe.

The Chinese automotive giant has been clear with its intentions for the Lynk & Co 05, which has been designed, engineered and configured to compete with vehicles such as BMW’s X4.

Featuring a bold exterior design, the Lynk & Co 05 is supposed to be a serious Chinese rival to traditional German premium crossovers.

Some of the notable design details include a wraparound grille and bold colour detailing in the wheels and roofline.

Lynk&Co enters Europe with unique membership model for 01 SUV

Hybridised Volvo XC40 sibling is available to rent on a single-use or month-by-month basis

Geely-owned Lynk&Co has detailed its imminent European market launch, unwrapping the European version of its 01 SUV and detailing a unique business model that does away with the need for vehicle ownership.

The Chinese-Swedish brand will offer the 01 on a membership basis for €500 (£456) per month, with members offered the opportunity to cancel with just one month’s notice, and lower their costs by sharing their car with others.

’Free members’ get access to the app and can use paid members’ cars on a single-use basis, with the company claiming the average car is in use just 4% of the time. Tax, insurance and registration costs for each car are included in the cost of membership.

The car will also be available to buy outright in Europe, as is already the case in China, but final prices have yet to be confirmed. They will likely command a significant premium over the roughly £18,000 starting price of the Chinese version.

In line with the company’s ambition to make the membership process “brutally simple”, the car is available in just two colours - blue and black - and is offered in just one trim level, with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems fitted as standard.

I like the interior, not sure about the exterior.

I quite like these.

Quite distinct looking and the colour certainly affects the aesthetics - that cream on above looks kak but then in another colour it's quite catching.

That 03 is an S3 from behind and an LA Ricer from the front.

I guess they dont do right hand right? and we wont see it in SA?

Without researching I would say a hard no as China is LHD & are not terribly bothered by RHD especially since vast majority of Euro-land is LHD as well.
Sad, still dont understand why can't we standardize this RHD and LHD stuff. Makes life difficult...

That Polestar blue, wowzer.

Geely considering cross-brand subscription service

Owner of Lotus, Polestar, Volvo and others could offer subscription allowing access to any of its models

The Geely Group - owner or part-owner of Lotus, Lynk&Co, Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, Smart and Volvo - is considering launching a subscription service whereby customers pay a monthly fee to access any of its cars.

While stressing that any such a scheme is still at the discussion stage, Lotus's executive director of corporate strategy and product management, Uday Senapati, said during the Financial Times’ Future of the Car event: “When you're part of a big group, it's natural you will look at what could be done together. It's an obvious thing to look at.”

Reacting to data showing that the average car is parked 96% of the time, Senapati added: “For Lotus, that number is probably higher. It’s really a Sunday summer car for a niche of enthusiasts who adore it for that. We can change that in the future, both by making our cars more useful and moving into different segments, but there are opportunities in sharing too.”

New Lynk&Co Zero electric coupe-SUV beging testing

EV from Chinese brand showcases bold new electric platform that's set to underpin future Volvo models

The new Lynk&Co Zero, an electric coupé-SUV built on a new dedicated EV architecture set to underpin future Volvo models, has completed its first dynamic testing in China, ahead of going on sale in the country next year.

The Volkswagen ID 4 rival will be the first electric model from Geely's Chinese premium brand, which is due to finally expand into Europe next year with the 01 SUV using an entirely subscription-based business model. The Zero is expected to eventually be offered in Europe as well.

Shown in concept form at the Beijing motor show in September, the Zero is the first model build on Geely’s new Sustainable Electric Architecture (SEA), which the firm says features advances in both hardware and software systems - including the ability to offer over-the-air updates.

The Lynk & Co 03+ Cyan Edition celebrates much racing success

Only for China, the 03 shares a platform with the Volvo XC40 and Polestar 2

Here’s a car you’ll probably never, ever see in Europe. It’s a racy-looking version of the Lynk & Co 03 built to celebrate the company’s three World Touring Car Cup titles. You may not recognise the car, but you ought to recognise the colour – this thing is the work of Cyan Racing, which runs the 03 in the WTCR and last year built that magnificent Volvo P1800 restomod.

Lynk & Co is a part of Geely, which also owns Volvo. The 03 is thus based on the same ‘CMA’ platform as the Volvo XC40 and Polestar 2. Cyan is the race team formerly known as Polestar – it was re-named Cyan Racing when Volvo appropriated the name for its all-electric performance offshoot.

The ‘03+ Cyan Edition’, which will only be available in China, is richly specified. We’re talking Akebono brakes, sticky Michelin tyres, an adjustable carbon front splitter and rear wing and adjustable Bilstein dampers. Not notably quick in a straight line, though, with just 261bhp to play with. Careful not to confuse it with 2019’s Lynk & Co Cyan Racing Concept, which lapped the ‘Ring in a ruddy quick 7m 20s.
