Well lets wait and see.

Barca are scoring goals for fun and manchester are struggling to score against weak teams.I think the game would be very one-sided, sadly I dont think we would see the match up as Milan look the stronger team in their next champs league match-up.

at which point in time did you see that? i dont remember any clear chance barcelona had over both games. i paniced more over the blackburn game than i did over both games against barca

Dunno what game you were watching if you cant remember barca's chances.Manchester played negative football and sat 11 players in the box.

Match facts from the game..

Barca:
Shots on Target
6

Manchester:
Shots on Target
1

Barca:
Shots off Target
8

Manchester:
Shots off Target
3

That is what United have to face week in week out in the Premiership. Barca didn't manage to break United down, whereas United have, of late, been picking up a lot of hard fought 1-0 wins.

If you cannot score a single goal over two legs of European football, no matter what the conditions or how the opposition played, you do NOT deserve to win the game and certainly don't deserve to make the final.

I love the way that you agree that United parked the bus for 180 minutes of football. It was fun to see them sh**ting bricks, defending for their lives - i especially loved it when they did that at OLD TRAFFORD!!!!!! That for me was amazing!!

I laughed my ass off when it was half time and Fergie came out and said, we are gonna start the 2nd half and dictate the game. They ended up parking 11 players in their box again :D Negative football.

They scored the 1 goal and thats all that matters at the end of the day. Was fun to see them only having 27% possession tho :D

I wish we could play them this season again. I am 100% sure the result will be different. Last season was one of our poorest seasons at Barca cos of in-fighting in the club, more than 10 first team injuries, politics in management etc. but we still managed to make a semi in the CL.

Well I am glad that not winning a semifinal and not winning the Champions League can bring you so much joy.

It was not the most exciting game we have ever played but it's not like we play that way normally. And if you cannot break us down, then you need to look at your own team and see where the problem lies. It's not like Barca played us off the park either. I don't remember many chances they created, or being particularly worried over the two legs. We did no more than we had to, which was score only a single goal :o

Look at Arsenal of the late 80s and early 90s. Defensive football won them many games. Chelsea, when they won the league, the same thing.

You have to realise that in order to win anything like the league or Champions League, you cannot play Harlem Globetrotters style football week in week out. Look what happened to Arsenal this season. They will end up with nothing. We already have one trophy and are in line for four more.

There is a difference between defending and playing negative football.

The only time you ever see a team defend like manchester did against barca is when a small team comes up against a big team, knowing they stand no chance of controling the game they sit back and hold on to the smallest leads.

You see the lower teams play this tactic aginst the top 4 in the epl every weekend. The fact manchester played like that is I guess a compliment to a barca team which was probably at their weakest in decades.

LOL. I think you watched a different game to everyone else.

Either way, it's over, we won. Get over it.

So you denying manchester never went out and defended?
Barca's formation on the day 4-3-3
Manchesters formation on the day 4-4-1-1 lol Im sure if they could have put anymore people in defense they would. Most of the game they sat camped in their half.

And won 1-0 to go on to the final. What a terrible idea

Anyway, we are top of the league again. 10 clean sheets in a row :)

Nobody is denying they won, we pointing out the negative football they played.Something which would have been expected from a lower league side not champe league holders.

ya, on-top gonna make the titles chase a bit more intense now.

Chelsea snatched a last-minute win as well....

Watched the United game today and the Chelsea one a little.

If United carry on with this form, Inter are gonna beat them i feel. They are poor in front of goal. Clean sheets mean nothing when u most of those clean sheets are not against top oppostion.

Chelsea i feel will lose to Juventus as well.

You missing the point. United defended like thier lives depended on it. United played against Barca like all the team outside of the top 4 play against United. Park the bus, put everybody behind the ball.

They had no control over the game. This was eivdent when you look at the stats. 27% possession at home shows they had absolutely no control in the game.

Barca play Harlem Globetrotter style football week in and week out. I have never ever seen Barca play defensive football. Never! They play flowing attacking football, even when they are winning. Try watching one of their matches, u might enjoy it ;)

LOL. United invented the Harlem Globetrotter style football in the 90s (as far as the Prem goes anyway).

This was ONE game where they did not play like that. And they did not have to, seeing as the opposition failed to score.

No, perhaps you can play with no defence in La Liga, week in week out, because that league is of inferior quality when compared to the EPL, but try that in England and it won't work. Not nowadays anyway.

Also, it seems odd that you think that despite United's unbreachable defence of late, they will struggle against the 'big' european teams. When our whole European run last year relied on a foundation of solid defence. Culminating, in that 1-0 win over Barca...

I agree we have to start taking more of out chances. But, once again, Bolton 'parked the bus' as you so often mention, offering almost nothing in attack. It is hard to break down 11 men behind the ball, who never come forward. We still totally dominated the game completely, as we have been doing in most if not all of the last 10 league games, and came away with another 1-0 win.

Sure, they are not the most exciting scorelines in the world, but the games still have great moments and a LOT of attacking by United. I would rather win the rest of our games 1-0 and win a record-equalling 18th League title, than win some 6-0 and 5-0 and lose or have thrilling 3-3 draws all the time. And I don't think I am alone in this sentiment.

Your first line is evidence that you only watch the EPL ;)

Barcelona are world famous for their flowing attacking style of football. Ask any lover of football, Barcelona play football like Brazil. United are merely following in their footsteps. The players are taught to play this way from a very young age from the academy. This is another reason why Barca will never ever park the bus in front of goal and defend.

How can you say La Liga has teams of inferior quality? When La Liga has had more number one rankings on UEFA than any other league? I fail to see your logic.

You seem to hate the way teams park the bus in front of United's goal. At least you admit that it shows that the team is weaker than United cos they offer nothing going foward.

This is how i felt last season when Barca played United. United offered absolutely nothing going foward in both legs. In the first leg, they hardly had the ball. They were content to try and get a draw. The second leg at Old Trafford was the same.

All teams go out to try and score as much goals as possible. If United could win 5 - 0 they would. Weather they can do it is another thing.

It's not that I disagree with most of what you are saying, cos I don't. But the fact is, the Barca game was a one off. An important game. A semi final. I remember the game well. It was a tight and tense affair. I know Barca dominated in terms of possession, even at OT, which made it even more tense. But what did they do with all the possession? Nothing.

Did you watch the FA Cup quarter final last year against Portsmouth? United dominated that game like I have never ever seen anyone dominate a game. They had all the possession, all the attacks and all the shots on goal. But they failed to do anything with it all, and conceded a late penalty (Pompey's only attack of the entire game) and ended up losing 1-0.

IF the United Barca game had been the same and United had been totally outplayed and just hung on for the win, then I would give you that much,. Fact of the matter is, that was simply not the case. It was a close game, as many CL semi finals will be. Decided by the odd goal. Like the Liverpool Chelsea semis of recent years. I am not sure why you would harp on about this one game. United got the goal, were not outplayed, and deserved the win.

You are right that I do not watch La Liga. I do not want to. I have seen the games from there. I do not like the style of football, find it boring, the quality of the teams and players low, and have absolutely no ties to Spain, so I am not sure why I would be watching their national football league. It's not like you watch the Belgian Premier League on a regular basis, or the J-League or any other random league come to think of it.

If you know anything about United, then you will know just ho wmuch Barca are like them - they play attacking, exciting football that fans like to see. Now, if we have to win some games 1-0 along the way to titles and trophies then so be it. ;)

awesome story:

three days before my grandfather passed away he saw ryan giggs make his first appearance for man united and said that boy has something special.

ok you're starting to piss me off, you lost the semi final that happened what a year ago? get over it, unted lost tha fa cup final to arsenal were arsenal barely touched the ball all 120 minutes, we arent still baggering about it in the arsenal thread, go start a barca thread.

now you claim united wether united can win a game 5-0 is "another thing" which i say they can, barcelona has absolutely no defence, thier game plan is to outscore the opposition. which is why they lost to chelsea, liverpool and then united.

go re-educate yourself before coming here with stats you just googled
