The Mazda CX-3 Thread

So much for it being free, my wife purchased and CX 5 mid last year and was told it was going to be a free upgade...
Yeah people were quite disappointed on the Facebook post also, most of them have been told it would be free also.

Then they should take it up with the dealership. Mazda has never mentioned it will be a free upgrade

The good press generated by making it free would be worth more than a few thousand Rand per upgrade. Opportunity missed for. Mazda. Competition is stiff out there.

I doubt it. Worldwide Mazda charged for the upgrade. We getting it pretty cheap compared to some parts.

And in not a single brochure was android auto mentioned.

It's an awesome upgrade, and doing mine today, well worth the price.

Lekker. Do a quick review once it's been installed. Do videos play on the touchscreen then?

Moose test is major disappointment. The CX-3 looks uncontrollable and an inexperienced driver will lose it, epic crash.

Yeah I was not expecting that. Handles really well otherwise... Not a lot of moose in my area for me to avoid at 80km/h to test it out...

That moose test was of the facelifted CX-3, with the more compliant suspension. I wouldn’t be surprised if the poor moose test and the changes to the suspension are related.

The suspension in mine is not what you would call compliant.

SA car sales: Compact SUVs continue to push Mazda's monthly figures

Mazda South Africa has quietly been reaching good sales figures each month. The Japanese automaker Mazda kicks off 2019 with a stellar month of 1243 passenger cars sold in January, according to the latest Naamsa figures.

The CX-5 is the brand's flagship model and also its top-volume seller with 408 units sold during the first month of the year. The smaller CX-3 is hot on its tail with 363 units sold.

The Mazda2 sold 249 units while the larger Mazda3 saw 216 units sold.

The sporty MX-5 is still a firm favourite in SA with the little sports car finding seven new owners.

What do you guys think of the Mazda CX-3 vs a 2018/9 VW Polo, as an every day small family vehicle?
Specifically looking at the CX-3 individual vs Polo highline.

Cx-3 individual all the way. I have one (and a small family)

May I ask why? All reviews I've read point to the CX-3 being far less practical i.e. less rear room and boot space.
Mmmm. I can't say I've compared the two side by side. But before we bought the cx-3, we looked at a number of cars including the Polo.

The Polo seemed fine. It was basically... a Polo.

I'm not sure how the pricing compared (the VWs always seemed a lot more expensive once you've added fancy extras like wheels and some paint) but the Individual has all the bells and whistles. Very nice interior. Rides nice and high. Higher than a Polo for sure. Great for getting kids in and out of a car seat or things in and out of the boot.

As for the boot, it is small. And the rear legroom is not massive. Much smaller than the Polo though? I doubt that.

Have you driven them both? If not, then I’d suggest that’s a far better method to assess which is more practical than asking on the internet and reading reviews.

Yes, I have, but the test drives unfortunately didn't help in establishing which might be a better day-to-day small family vehicle.

Thanks! Was this the new gen Polo you looked at, or the previous gen?
