I'd say take them both out for a test drive.

If you have a pram, see if it'll fit in the boot of either. That kind of thing.

We're keen on getting a cx-5 to be our family car (currently a Subaru Outback). Lot more space in those.

Yeh, I've already got a CX-5 (which I love), hence looking at the CX-3 or Polo as a smaller second car. Just want to be sure the car will easily accommodate a rear-facing car seat should the need re-appear at some point in the future..
Our pram is fairly small, so will have no issue fitting in either.
I do like that the new Polo is only a year old, whereas the current CX-3 shape has already been around for about 4 years...
Will go have another look at them both.

Not well

To be honest, I love the Scooby so I'm really not in a rush to part with her.

Would probably be keen to swap her for a nice CX-5 at this stage though. But no real rush.

Yeh, has been around since 2015 already, when they launched the CX-3. They gave it a minor face-lift last year, but only some minor changes.

Facelift was incredibly minor. The average Joe would struggle to tell.

Both models had a relatively mild facelift (update in the case of the CX-5). The core design was good from get go

Has anyone figured out the sweet spot of this onboard stock equaliser? This is how I have mine set up. But the sub in the boot feels quite shallow on a lot of songs (specially those with lots of bass). Maybe that is also because it is a small sub way back in the spare wheel well of the boot
