The Mazda CX-5 Thread

Ok, so I test drove my soon to be vehicle today. CX-5 Akera AWD Diesel Auto. Just wow, I mean really wow. The bloody car has so many features I cannot believe it and it drives like a gem. I've never driven a Auto or diesel, but it's so quiet and sounds like a petrol engine.

Put your foot down and it just responds to your needs. Goes easily to 100-120km so quick and with ease. You can even set it like a manual, but it does not have a cvt box, which does not bother me.

I'm really amazed how easy a diesel drives with such power and how refined the Mazdas are.

Actually I'm surprised more mazdas aren't sold.

I need insurance now before the deal is done, so I wanted to know how much a 2015 Mazda CX-5 Akera 2.2 Diesel Auto

The one you test drove had which engine? The old 129kw or the new 140kw?

Nah doesn't matter, as powerful or more so than a Ford Ranger with similar engine.

I test drove that diesel auto when it was released and my reaction was the same, I was dumbstruck.
Does it really matter?

Should be the 129kw

How much will insurance come to on these vehicles.

Do you mind me asking how much you pay on your Mazda

I have the 2L Dynamic. Test drove the diesel individual and wanted it so badly but it was too expensive at the time had to compromise since it was basically for the school run.

Isnt the Akera 4wd but the Individual 2wd. Who cares they're both fantastic and loaded with extras can't go wrong with either unless you want it for offroad stuff i guess

Hi Vegeta, what isyour fuel consumption on the 2L ?

Looking into getting a new 2L active auto, just wanted to get some real world economy figures,

Cheers

I bought the 2L individual auto 3 weeks ago, mine is sitting at about 7.5L - 8L per 100km. I always use the i-stop.

Cheers.

Same with i-stop it can go up to 8.5L when my right foot gets itchy.

Hi. Quick question, did any of you finance through Ford/Mazda?

I am curious to know if you received a better rate than at a bank.

I bought mine via private deal and MFC financed it with 11.25% interest rate.
So chuffed about the vehicle, it's the best vehicle I have owned so far.

Will post pics soon.

Been struggling to move the bloody seat forward. There is 3 leavers on the right side, but none actually moves it forward.

Any assistance gents.

Assuming you have the power seat, to move my seat forward, I move the horizontal button forward, then my seat slides forward.

Quick questions do you have the previous gen version or the current one? Don’t see the i stop feature in the spec list of the current one. Just want to make sure.

I don't think it's mentioned as a spec. It's part of the skyactiv feature set. If it's skyactiv it has i stop me thinks.

When does the i stop kick in? I do about 20km to work and 20km home each day. Do you have to be in peak bumper to bumper traffic, or does the battery have to reach full charge for it to kick in at all. Just curious as I would love to save some cost on the fuel.

Does 8.6l/100km sound abit thirsty or not on my 2.2 Diesel Auto perhaps. I don't drive fast or flat pedal. I cruise mostly though.

This is my first Auto diesel vehicle, so trying to do what most people says,
Idle vehicle in the morning for about 3-5min, drive off passively for next 2/3 km then hit about 60/80km on 2K/2.5k rpm and on freeway keep about 100-120km at about 2.5k/3k rpm.
When standing still at robots I shift to neutral, then change back to drive before pulling off. Also is it a must you put the vehicle in neutral when you on a descent.

Does this sound right at all or is there any driving style I should change.

Your consumption sounds right. You have an i-stop light, if it's green it has charged and is active, it will activate when you come to a complete stop.(the car will stop idling) it's best not to think about istop it works on its own depending on many factors. If you use e-con instead of aircon it will stay on longer, if you use aircon it will prioritise your comfort over economy. Mazda uses precise piston position and ignition to restart the engine so fast you might not even notice you dont have to do anything. Drive like you would normally, it does it's thing without needing your help.

You should not put the car in neutral ever when it's moving, what for? Are you trying to coast? It's dangerous and uses more fuel than leaving it in drive.

I don't have an auto but when ever I drive one I put it in drive until the end of my journey then I park it and put it in park.

If I'm going to stand at roadworks for a while I might put it in neutral and handbrake up unless I park and switch off completely depending on how long I have to wait.

I have the similar 2.2 diesel engine in my Ford and I never do anything special. I start and do my commute. I'm not a pad vark so I'm not worried about hurting a cold engine in any case. I start it and take the kids to school I don't spend time thinking of warming it, I assume the engineers have done their job.

What do you mean by e-con, I only use aircon when I really need to though.

I mean, I put the car in neutral only when standing still in traffic. The noise of the motor goes down, so I guess it might put less strain on the motor and also saving fuel.

What rpm should I drive max to prevent issues with the motor.

Thanks for your input though.
