The Mazda CX-5 Thread

They said dilution was a potential issue of the injectors were messed up. It’s still there, I’m waiting for Mazda to send a tech to woodmead to take a look. I’m getting super frustrated now.

They swear blind the dpf has nothing to do with oil dilution. Not sure who to believe. Apparently they made progress today and have isolated the issue to injector 1 being faulty and over fueling. They replacing it, takes 3 working days to get parts

Got my car back, injector replaced!at R14500 for one!! It’s covered by warranty but damn when it’s out of warranty :O

Weirdly when I asked Mazda about parts cost for my last service they said it would be about 50% more, the price I saw on my motorplan service was the rate at which they buy parts from Mazda? Dunno how true it is.

Any dilution now?

Edit: I see you just got it, let us know how it goes

Will do, I can’t actually prove there was dilution, they didn’t test the oil for diesel contamination. But if the error comes up again I’m done.

Got myself CX-5 2 litre petrol. I use the vehicle for work and was attracted by the warrantee/service plan.
I do about 50000-60000 km per year.
Had a Ford Kuga 1.5T before.
Mazda very nice vehicle, but jeez I miss that turbo of the Kuga.
Turbo Diesels was not in my price range.

Driving with the wife and she wanted to close the central vent on her side ( aircon ).
We then realised that there is no dial.

Basically same as you exactly expect I had a Ford Fusion 1.5T

I do miss that Turbo, but I really like the CX-5's drive and the height.

[EDIT] I think if you turn the vent far left or something it seals? I cant remember. I do know some cars don't allow you to fully seal off all vents for safety purposes to ensure air can get into the car.

I'm sure it has dual zone climate control so she can set her own zone? Set zone to feet, if there is no manual or just match room temp on her side so the fan turns down

I use 22-24C as a middle point as you go colder it turns the face vents up warmer turns them off and switches to feet

4000 km on the CX-5.

Observations so far.
  1. Auto levelling headlights need to be adjusted lower. Need to have that attended to.
  2. Does not like potmarked roads, road imperfections can unsettle vehicle and sounds very loud in vehicle
  3. Trying to find the off button for the radio was amusing. At least the mute button stops usb from playing.
  4. Android Auto is a pleasure
  5. You cannot open/close all windows with key fob.
  6. There seems to be a misalignment between speed on speedo and cruise control when using it. If I set 120 on cruise control, speedo will settle at slightly over 120.
  7. The engine is weak, on any semblence of an uphill gearbox will kick down.

The fob thing is annoying. I assume you are driving the 2L? I even drove the 2.5L and it was terribly under powered, that’s why I went with the turbo diesel. The ride is a bit stiff that might be why you feeling all the bumps in the road and the noises, it’s no fortuner!

The CX-5 suspension is abit stiffer with the MacPherson strut. A coilover kit will be the best, but at a cost

Well the ride is stiff that's why it corner's like a car, that's the trade off. Try cornering a fortuner at speed in white undies.

Anyone know if I-stop is bad for diesel cx-s
5. Reason I'm asking is when I drive in the morning for a few minutes when the engine is still cold, the I-stop is flashing at stops. Since most people have said diesel cars have to be driven at least 10min or 20km for the dpf not be packed up with stuff, otherwise it will create issues.

I do can spell sometimes when the dpf is burning the excess and get a weird smell. I drive about 20km to work and open it up on the freeway.

Had no issues so far with the diesel, but just wanted your opinion about I-stop on diesel cx-5.

I also wonder about this. The diesel runs quite rough and loud in the mornings, by the time I get to work it’s ok. I generally avoid istop anyway, I would turn it off if it didn’t leave a stupid orange light on the dash. I usually turn my air con temp down to the lowest that disables istop with no light.
