The Mazda CX-5 Thread

Also don’t have the aircon set at the lowest setting (18C). When we got our car, I thought i-stop was faulty but noticed it became available when the aircon was at 18.5 and above
Yep, I also noticed this. So my aircon is set to 18.5C.

So, it seems like the battery didn't get a chance to charge up to the point needed for the i-stop to kick. Seems to be sorted now.

"Also, if you got the air conditioning on maximum settings i-stop won’t work. It also won’t work if you’re on an incline, if you’re in reverse, if the doors are open or if the driver’s seat belt is unfastened."

I am seriously jealous of you guys.
I will wait for the new facelift to reach our shores, and then get one of the old demos.... Need to stick to a budget here...

Was also on a strict budget so was lucky to find mine at the top end of the budget.

I don't think there is a facelift, merely tech changes.

Did my AA/Car Play last night in the dark with a headlight and a curious toddler around. Was super easy. Parts around R1600 vat excl.

Just one note, if your phone has a notch and no setting to disable it or not on Android Pie 9 you will have a black bar that renders AA useless(all cars not just Mazda). Google first or you'll waste your money. Even Android One devices
How's the experience so far? Do you still have access to all the standard MZD apps? I'm thinking of getting the retrofit but would still like to use the navigation software that came with the vehicle.

Oh yeah the two work in perfect harmony. If you press and hold the home button for a sec you're back to MZD. Press it again and you're back to AA.

If you're in AA and want your favourite radio stations on MZD just press the star it switches seemslessly and instantly. It feels like a merger rather than a replacement.

Change the volume for example and MZD's grapics will overlay AA. Press Music in AA you're back to MZD music, but if you've played from AA in the session it takes you there rather than MZD its very clever actually.

Google maps is so good that it remembers your commute and places you stop at. And it will attempt to predict your commute for example I stop for bread at a particular shop almost daily and it gets it right and automatically shows me when I'll get there.
It does so for my coffee run, its smart. I've forgotten about MZD's nav already. But like i said you can use either or both.

Can this be done on the CX-3? I have a friend with one and he is interested in getting AA.

Gf got a sms from Mazda saying the retrofit kit will be available from 1st of Feb.

The link sends you to their FB page, people are not happy you have to pay for it, most of them said they would get it as a free upgrade when they purchased their cars.

They should do a free upgrade for 2019 & 2018 models. I think that would be fair.

Hey guys

When I went to pickup my car at the dealer I enquired about tyre sizes with the Mazda guys. I still have the original Toyo 225x55x19 tyres, but the thread is getting thin and need replacement in the next 2 months. I wanted to know if I could put broader tyres on and not void warranty. He checked on the system and the Individual and AWD diesels can go up to 255 for newer and older models.

I was surprised by him saying I could go that wide and not affecting warranty issues. I am looking at going 245x50x19 which is almost identical to the stock dimensions/ratios with the car specs. I do have the 2015 Akera 2.2 Diesel Auto AWD and will replace all 4 tyres.

My question to you guys would be if you currently have wider tyres on the stock 7" rim and would there be any issues besides the fuel increase and slower pickup. I'm not a speed freak and drive 80/120km/h. It will give the car a better look and more stable and comfortable ride. Which tyre brands do you suggest that matches the rating and load of the original tyres.

I would appreciate your input guys

Does Mazda SA sell the CX-5 in ANY other colour besides metallic red, as this is the only colour I have ever seen them in.

Even saw a few car transporter trucks on the N3 to Durban & back in November last year & ALL the CX-5's on them were the same metallic red colour as well.

I've seem a few other colours, almost went for the Snow flake white. But chose the red. But yes, the sales guy said the red is the most popular colour.

Out of the range, I like white... But granted, I might a bit biased as most of my card have been, hence I have grown fond of the color due to simplicity. I've seen white, graphite black and I think blue as well. The Soul Red is the most striking of the range!!!!
