The Mazda CX-5 Thread

If the front badge doesn't have the glass then it does not have adaptive cruise control.

I drove past a dealership today, popped-in and had a quick look at the new 2019 spec. You're right, even Akera spec has a '3D' and not a glass badge. Not sure where the auto-brake radar is installed then or if it uses the PDC sensors for that. Also checked the steering wheel and salesman confirmed - no Adaptive Cruise.

Bottom line: disappointment

Very true.. It’s one of the reason I’m going to get myself a Ford Kuga st line.

Hi There

Anyone can give me the gear ratios for the 2015 CX-5 2.2 Diesel Auto Akera.

Below is the SIG/GTR CX5 in the US

GEAR RATIOS (:1) Automatic transmission
1st 3.487
2nd 1.992
3rd 1.449
4th 1.000
5th 0.707
6th 0.600
Reverse 3.990
Final Drive 4.411
Tire diameter 28.7"

rpm at 70, based on this data: 2177

Reason me asking is to work out the gear ratios if i decide to change tyre size from 225/55/19 to 245/50/19 or 255/50/19.
I want to see how much impact there will be on the transmission and how much it will be out.

Would be interesting to know the resolution bump for the MZD Connect in the CX-5 Gen 2 vs the CX-3 & CX-5 Gen 1 etc

Offhand it's a pretty decent bump.

That's before we talk about the new Mazda 3 & CX-30 setup with the bigger landscape screen (8,8") & UI overhaul.

Reviving this thread again... I pulled the trigger on the 2.0 Dynamic. So excited! Hoping to take delivery sometime soon.

Congrats. Incredible Car. Sat in the 2019 model today. It's gorgeous. Everything is of the highest quality, especially the interior. Soft-touch materials absolutely everywhere, every nob and button feels super premium. I'm surprised people even consider Tucsons and Sportages, but I put it down to lack of awareness.

Thanks so much! I am also new to the Mazda brand and was pleasantly surprised. Coming from a family full of Toyotas!

Feel like Mazda do listen to what their customers want. The inclusion of Android Auto and Apple Car Play is a prime example of this.

Took delivery today. So happy with the car. Interior is something you'd get from a luxury German SUV!

The 2019 Mazda CX-5 Diesel Is Finally Here (US)

Even though diesels aren’t all that popular in the United States, Mazda still thinks that they’re a viable market. It just unveiled the 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature AWD diesel today at the New York Auto Show, which is nice I suppose.

During today’s press conference, Mazda announced that a Skyactiv-D 2.2-liter diesel variant is coming in July for the CX-5 with the Signature trim and all-wheel drive. The engine will produce a claimed 168 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque, according to the company press release. Fuel economy figures are an estimated 27 mpg in the city, 30 on the highway and 28 combined.

The diesel CX-5 will be marketed as a premium feature because it allegedly offers more range at its trim level and improved towing capacity.

Even though the car was revealed at the end of 2016, it took this long for it to finally come to market because there was a “dialogue with the California Air Resources Board”to make sure that the engine was up to standard. Given the, uh, history of diesel engines in this country and elsewhere, this was probably a very important sign-off to get.

The CX-5 diesel will cost $41,000 and comes in four colors: black, white, red and gray. Pre-orders are being taken now.

I see a lot of CX-5's around JHB, I often look to see if its the diesel variant, it's mostly not! I wonder did I make the right choice, why are there very little diesels around :crying:

Same observation here.
I think it's mostly price (more expensive) and diesel's got a bad wrap in recent history with all the OEM scandals, EU countries making them extinct, inaccurate reliability concerns etc.
Other than that, the diesel is by far the one to have. No-one can argue with the sheer pleasure from having 140kW and 450nm available at low revs while merely sniffing the oily stuff.

I've driven all variants and there is simply no comparison - the diesel wins hands-down.

Any details on the origins of the 2.2 Diesel Engine? Is it a genuine Mazda motor, or some OEM Renault or Ford unit rebadged?
