The Mazda CX-5 Thread

Huh? 40k for DRLs? As in the small LED lights? Do they replace the entire headlight?
Yes, with the 2015/16 Akera DRL they have to replace the entire headlight as the DRL is built in the light.

You can get 2nd ones on gumtree, but you will need to look for the "J" version as it's the replacement with LED which is not as bright as the older ones.

Any problems with the Diesel? I know someone who has the Dynamic and he has had zero issues so far. That's my only concern. Oh, and leather seats :)
Some were complaining of the engine failures where the water would mix with the oil. This had more issues with the older models and not so much with the newer. I think Asterisk had the rising oil levels which some models have. It's a risk you sometimes take.

I've never driven the 2.5L turbo yet, so don't know how it feels. I would probably spend more money on fuel with the turbo.

Drive both and decide which one feels right for you.

I had an issue with a faulty injector, it was over fueling and the excess was filling into the oil sump. Took 2 dealerships to find the issue but they eventually sorted it and it was covered by warranty, luckily because it’s about 15k an injector at dealer price.

So far no other issues with the diesel, it’s a bit loud to be honest but if you need power it always has it available. I test drove the petrol one first and immediately wrote Mazda off. A few months later I got in a diesel and bought it the same day.

I would have definitely bought that but it came out a few months after I got mine. I believe though we don’t get the turbo variant in SA? I could be wrong but that’s what I heard.

My car got a software update for the ecu, see how long that lasts. It’s also going back to have the mirror motors replaced because they don’t actuate properly when the mirror is wet. I think the cogs get slippery and they don’t fold or unfold properly.

Has anyone tried out the connected services that's available on the Mazda Toolbox?

The software update seemed to resolve a check engine light issue when reversing up a steep driveway

So i got my exhaust pressure sensor packed up and got replaced with code P0473 error. Christmas lights popping up and diesel smell was bad. At least the R1900 was covered by Innovation.

They did a dpf regeneration to burn it clean again. Now it drives like a new car.

Mazda CX-5 gets model-year update to boost efficiency

Mazda adds cylinder deactivation to petrol SUV, alongside minor revisions to cabin and refinement

Mazda has given its CX-5 another mild revision for the 2020 model year, including efficiency tweaks to the petrol variant.

The Ford Kuga rival now benefits from cylinder-deactivation tech for the 163bhp Skyactiv-G petrol engine, although it's added on versions with the manual gearbox only.

The new system, which shuts down two cylinders under light throttle loads to reduce fuel consumption, is claimed to give an 8% reduction in CO2 emissions when measured on the WLTP cycle. The Skyactiv-G unit is an older engine than the Skyactiv X unit found in the 3 and CX-30, so it doesn't feature the spark-controlled compression-ignition technology.
