The Mazda CX-5 Thread

Def the diesel 2.2 Akera, car would basically pay of it self with the savings of going to diesel lol
We have a 2019 Diesel Akera on 55 000km which hasn't put a foot wrong yet - very impressed with it. It does plenty of highway driving which may help avoid the oil dilution problem?
Goodluck with the car hunting, hope you find a well loved example!

Correct mostly long distance, got to keep that DPF clean!
Hence buying this will actually not cost much more each month due to savings in feul.

I actually think most of the issues are related to the fact that I don’t drive long distance. I think if you do mostly highway you should be good to go.

Nothing wrong found at mazda dealership, but waiting full report when car comes back today.

They did service it as mazda as it was going to be due soon.

Have you seen the price of the new Akera’s? It’s almost R700k
Yes thats the new normal, the new polo starts at 311k! Comes with 1.0L,5 speed manual land 14 inch steel wheels!

Hoping to buy the 2017 Akera(its not the facelift even know facelift model was for sale from 2017) for 309k.

It’s becoming insane, dealership came back to me now saying no diesel contamination in the oil so that’s good, could be a sensor?

Apparently I can go collect. No issues found, they just flashed the ecu (5th time). Not confident it won’t happen again but at least there’s no issues with the seals.

I'm coming up on the end of my 2019 Dynamic warranty and service plan. Mileage is still low at 25k.

Has anyone got any advice on warranty/service/maintenance plans post the initial 3 years? I haven't done much research yet, just wanted to check if anyone has any tips?

Not sure if you have the Petrol or Diesel version?
Only issues i am aware of is the mirror actuators that fail and i have also experienced the failure on our 2017 2L model and besides the actuators. They are solid and well build SUV'S.

Bought ours at 46k and now it is on 68k 16 months later.

Will you be extending the manufacturer warranty/ service plan ?

Thank you for your reply.

I have a petrol variant. I'm considering extending the warranty with Mazda. I need to try and weigh the costs of paying for the services cash vs extending the service plan.

As for the mirror actuators, I am already seeing signs of them failing. When I arrived at my parents place in Durban this month both mirrors didn't close fully, and it isn't the first time. They've since been working fine, so I need to hope that they replace them under warranty if the problem isn't currently occuring.

Other than that I've had an electrical issue happen twice where the car goes into low power mode. Mazda couldn't pick up a specific fault.

I have decided that we will be keeping ours for many years to come and with regards to maintenance i am DIY as its easy to work on the car for normal services.

Last oil change, i DIY using shell 5w30 with oem oil filter plus sump plug washer.

At 70k, i will doing brake fluid flush, air & oil filter change plus oil which is end of January 2022.

Then in 2022 need a new set of tyres, January 2021 did rear brake pads and i am currently monitoring the battery as it seems that by end of 2022 it might need a new battery.

Have them replace the actuators under warranty. They did both of mine they have been fine since. Regarding extended warranty, I took one out with Mazda but it’s not a factory one it’s actually with motor rite, dealership says they not too full of **** with replacing things. I’m going to have to cough for services though how ever it seems the warranty is still honoured if you service with people like Bosch etc.
