The Mazda CX-5 Thread

Paywall:

WATCH | Mazda's CX-5 is beginning to age, but it's still a great SUV

Anyone replace the battery on their CX-5? What did it cost and any suggestions, please?

Installed a SABAT 649 stop start battery in April 2022 and so far everything is going well.
No issues

Paid R1350 plus trade in my old battery.
2 other neighbors of mine installed same battery in their CX-5 and no issues

Any long term 1st gen owners here ? can you comment on your ownership experience ?

Specifically interested in 2.0 vs 2.5 petrols
Also looking at Gen1 (well, also Gen 2 if I can get a good prince)
Gen 1 Still looks good and exceptionally well priced.

Would also love to hear anyone's honest long-term feedback.

im specifically looking at the 2016.5 (facelift)

wondering if the 2.2 akera AWD will last as long as a rav4 2.2 VX (4th gen facelift)

As a 2017 2L owner for 3 years, ours has not given us issues to date and i will be owning it for many years to come.
There is not a lot of issues reported about the CX5 giving issues as long as continous maintenance carried out.
2 neighbours of mine have 2L auto models which are sitting on 192 000km and 132 000km with no issues.
I always say, CX-5's are solidly build and very reliable.

I would even buy the previous shape model.

Diesel models are a touch and go in terms of reliablity.
I am yet to come across a 2.2d model that has over 250 000km and above with minimal issues.
I would rather buy a 2/2.5L motor and have peace of mind.

Thanks... if the diesel is out then i guess im moving towards the rav d4d

unless i can get a 2.5 with AWD...
i believe the 1st gen 2.5s only came in FWD and not AWD but from 2017 they made the 2.5 available in AWD Individual

Great stuff.

Is the car still on the original tensioner as they have a tendency to start leaking?
