The Mazda CX-5 Thread

Outside it looks great but I agree with the comments about it just looking too Chinese. And getting rid of physical buttons is a mistake imo.

Huge fan of these Mazdas but this doesn't make me excited for the new CX-3/30 at all

Mazda CX-5 has lost those touches that made it a Mazda. Interior design is like that of Chinese cars and there is not even a physical volume knob.

2016 Mazda CX5 2.5 individual auto with 180K on the clock with FSH

Pics look good. Car had 2 owners and services only at agents according to the salesman. (Waiting for a report to confirm)

Car needs to do a trip from Langebaan area to CPT once a week. Must also deal with a little (10 - 15%) gravel road.

I like the 2.5 cos extra power for the long road and shouldn't be crazy heavy when i take a drive to the spar during the week.

Whats a fair price ? R200K ? EDIT: The price seems right. Thanks @Hemi300c
Next question is.... is this a good buy. My only experience with these cars is on the interwebz. So would appreciate some experiences to go off of

On paper it sounds like a good deal, From what you jotted down the services only at agents stands out. We know that 2.5 N/A is super low stressed. Mileage is good.

Individual means you get some toys, what colour is it? Say Soul Red say Soul Red :ROFL:

Based on that limited info it sounds like a good deal & something that will serve you well for many years.

Maybe just try the "I only have R190k" & see how it goes down :unsure: :sneaky:

Its not soul red... i would have loved a soul red but its machine gray i think... still looks good.

Will do... still waiting on Mazda to give feedback on the history report... if that checks out i will have a test drive.

If the test drive is good i will send it to dekra

If dekra comes back ok i will pull the trigger. Insha Allah

Standard stuff like what brand are the wiper blades, what brand are the tyres & are the they at least 2 of the same brand, how is the foot pedal wear, how are the panel gaps, is their any overspray you can see etc.

In the service book/history check if the timing belt was done, the 2L & 2.5L it should be done every 120k kilos. Check what other work was done if it was just standard servicing needed in it's 9 year life.

Mazda finally unveiled the new CX-5 on 10 July 2025. However, at the time, while the European launch date (second half of 2026) was announced, when the third generation of the brand’s best-selling SUV will arrive in South Africa remained unconfirmed. So, we reached out to the local arm of the Japanese automaker to find out…

All-new Mazda CX-5 in South Africa in 2026

Mazda South Africa has told CAR that it is working on introducing the new CX-5 in South Africa in the second half of 2026. (The local lineup, specifications, and engine options will likely to be announced closer to its arrival in South Africa.)

Although the third generation’s silhouette is familiar to its forebear, the new car’s bodywork is altogether larger than its forebear’s. The new model’s 4 690 mm length and 1 860 mm width make it 115 mm longer and 15 mm wider than the second iteration. The wheelbase has been stretched by 115 mm (to 2 815 mm), providing a larger footprint and a more spacious interior.

Under its striking sheet metal, the CX-5 has also received suspension and chassis upgrades, which allow for an improved braked towing capacity of 2 000 kg (up 1 000 kg over the outgoing petrol model currently available here).

soooo...

Test drive went well. car runs like a dream, all the gadgets work, no signs of repair or respray... a few things:

- small tear on seat
- left headlight faded and DRL is flickering
- Left side beading is loose
- this one is strange... the bolt that holds the sparewheel in place and then the cover screws on was broken... there was corrosion... but no other signs of corrosion elsewhere in the boot... maybe a previous owner left a bottle of fluids in there and it leaked out and chowed the bolt ?

all of the above the salesman is willing to fix and also include a valet and also a service.

- saw the books... the 150, 165 and 180K services are unaccounted for...
- still waiting on mazda for the report

these 2 are the most concerning to me... that said... ball is in the salesmans court... he needs to give me feedback on these issues most urgently as well as take it to dekra for a complete inspection or the deal is off.

But man... its a really nice car and it really runs well...

Have an acquaintance in PE (sorry GHHHEBEEEERGGHHAH) that is willing to check it out today with his mechanic. On the face of it, this looks like a really good deal. Depends on what WBC will charge to send it to me. Might just give them a number and say its cash, u want it or not.

Anyone had experience negotiating with terrorists? oops i mean WBC?

I guess we have a race on our hands...

Personally I wouldn't buy from WBC as I heard a handful of horror stories that people had with buying there. I've also heard some good stories, so it's a little tricky.

Toyota is a good choice as well, but also tends to be a risky buy due to highjacking chances.

If the guys with the Mazda doesn't come back to you, look at other options.

my thinking is if you gonna buy a from WBC, a toyota is probably the safest. One with FSH, safer,

My guys just finished the test drive on the RAV, and the service books are all stamped by Toyota (sent me pics) also has both spare keys

looks a treat, need to let these guys drop the price tho

Told them that they must drop it to 195, i have money burning a hole in my pocket here or i go buy a mazda from somwhere else

Tbh that looks pretty good if it was at your local WBC to check it out, but the long distance thing sucks as you really should check the body out for accident damage with a mechanic that knows what to look for since the Dekra report says "The body of the vehicle shows considerable damages and/or corrosion and/or dents and scratches and/or signs of substandard repair work""
