Today I'm not a really big Metal know it all, there's just so many bands that sounds the same or tries to sound like each other. But I still love the music I grew up with and still listen to new stuff released from all the oldish Metal and nu-metal bands.

Here's one of my fav's when I was a teenager:

Know what you mean - it applies to 90% of all death- and black metal bands. Especially death. I prefer my metal progressive for the most part, hence one of my favourite bands of recent years:

How do I embed youtube videos?

...Like That ^ :D Just wrap a "video" tag around the copy-pasted URL, or click the "video" button in the quick-reply box and paste your url.

The OP requested my powers in thread necromancy to resuscitate this thread from the depths of threaded death.

I don't have a problem been in another metal thread ;)

I'm more gothy so my posts are generally gothic.

THoughts on the new Killswitch Engage? 100's of times better than their last 2 albums IMO.

Any In Vain fans around here? Finally got hold of their new full length "Ænigma". More brutal than their previous stuff, but really good! Has to grow on me a bit, but glad to see they dropped their 'core influences from "Mantra".

SO! Haven't seen a lot of metal on here recently... Prog (and muppet) time!

Too lazy to go through the entire thread, any in Flames fans out there?

and even if you are not a fan you all went to the show (if you could) when they were here right?

One of my favourite prog bands. Pareidolia from that album is a fantastic song.

Anyway lately I've been on a huge post-metal kick. I simply cannot get enough of this genre. For reference see bands like:

  • Cult of luna
  • ISIS
  • Neurosis
  • Alcest

100% agreed on Haken. I'd also recomend The Ocean since you're into post metal. Their most recent album is excelent.

Needs more Metalocalypse / Dethklok. Recently released a movie that seems to lead into the upcoming 5th season if anybody actually followed the show.

does "Will Haven" also fit into this category? As for Haken, it's one of my prog albums of the year, along with Steven Wilsons' The raven that refused to sing and ayreons the theory of everything!

No sepultura (max era)?
