I don't think it will escalate beyond this.... but now that you mention it...Iran has been unusually silent lately... I'm pretty worried about them.
I still think Israel and the US would love for an excuse to bomb Iran.
hmm... I pray that Hamas would just be dissolved and the Palestinian people would get the desire in their hearts to settle down and begin rebuilding their lives and homes.
You know what... I am 99% certain that if the Pallies got rid of Hamas... Israel would withdraw from Gaza and let them govern themselves... would leave them in peace.
This is really tragic. As a student of history and having traveled a bit here's my take:
What the news reports and what actually happens are 2 different things. In my time in the UK and elsewhere, I watched and listened to local news that painted a vastly different picture of what my country was about. I'm sure others would agree with me here. News agencies in whatever form first mostly focus on negative news(that sells) and color the 'facts' accordingly. So just imagine the reverse - don't believe all conclusions drawn from the experts on news media.
On my travels, I've been lucky enough to come across a diverse number of races of people. One inescapable fact is that most people no matter what color, shape, size, creed etc are decent folk. They will help even if they don't know you from a bar of soap - as I have witnessed and experienced time and again.
Then you get the radicals(who make up a small percentage) in society on any side who will cause it for the rest. Look at history. Hitler and his cronies - yet it is well documented that a lot of German folk did help the Jews at extreme risk to themselves - just because they did not look at it as Germans helping Jews but rather a sense of righting a wrong. There are a lot of other examples.
Hate does NOT happen in a vacuum. I'm probably going to be creamed for this but does anyone wonder why the German heireachy hated the Jews so much? Please study your history carefully! No side is lily-white. The same can be applied to the conflict anywhere across the world. As with the conflict on the strip.
War seems to be something that is greatly influenced by politics and economics. Think about that for a bit. That is where the tragedy lies. Armies, soldiers and henchman act at the behest of a small group of people who have their own selfish interests at heart. And this group is insulated and shielded by what actually goes on on the ground and therefore rarely question the full effect of their decisions and instructions - its just a pawn game. Very rarely will you have a leader who acts for the benefit of society as a whole and who has experienced what the common man goes through - Mandela, Ghandi, Martin Luther King etc. And they too have their faults.
So much more I can say.
What I hope could happen in future is that people in society learn to take responsibility for their actions and those of the leaders they choose to bestow power to. A rather revolutionary mechanism to transform society for the better would be something that allows you to experience what someone else is going through - hunger, pain, despair, the experience of killing an animal, joy, love, the experience of a job well done, music playing etc. We would then be able to relate and deeply consider our actions and the effect we have on people and the environment around us.
That is what I hope.
