This thread is for everything related to MTN and it's share price.
https://www.google.com/finance?q=JSE:MTN

I feel this is a stock to watch out for, it might have some interesting twists ahead, will it be a lonmin, I don't think so. Does it intrigue me like lonmin did, a little yea. So if there are other non-registered amateurs that also feel curious about MTN feel free to comment in this thread.

The idea started here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/783229-LONMIN-down-85-Today?p=16579441&viewfull=1#post16579441

Side note:

The EasyEquities platform is by far and away the cheapest and easiest way to invest in South Africa. EasyEquities has really removed the barriers to entry with investing and is making it possible for anyone and everyone to own a piece of their favourite listed companies! You can start your own investment portfolio with as little as R10.

Simply click on this link http://bit.ly/1Nclzaf to register ( It is my referal link, show some love baby, lets do this. )

PLEASE NOTE:

Okes, Im not sure if we can make it s sticky on the 1st page or something....

Ive seen some great advice here, but its absolutely crucial to do your own research too. Dont blindly follow advice hoping to make a quick buck.

Investors have individual goals and risk appetite differ. Circumstances such as term of investment, age, goal etc etc etc can WILL determine if investing in a certain stock is profitable.

One guy might be buying Lonmin with his life savings hoping to double up within 3 months, when another is using petty cash over a 5 year term.

Take the info here with a pinch of salt, and do your own research!!!

One might say this thread is a attempt to manipulate the market just like Jim "overnight" Chanos's public announcement to short MTN might have been. One might say that. :D

I want to kick myself, yesterday was contemplating of buying more when it was at R125/126 and I decided not to buy more.

Thor drop the hammer on this one :D Vodacom has as close to a monopoly as the Competition Commission will allow in SA and it's only going to get worse for MTN (if you have a long investment horizon). Sometimes you just need to try each market player's products/services, compare, and you'll get an idea of who leads and who follows.

But I respect the self-pumping of a share Sir, I might have dabbled in that myself a bit on the odd occassion...:p

Vodacom is bound to SA borders, Vodafone prevents Vodacom from operating outside of SA.

MTN is a international company going all the way to Afghanistan and beyond.
