No wonder the thieves have such an easy time.

In SA, of course, if one has the ID number one also has the DOB. The thief only needs one piece of information which, on top of it, is easy to get.
 
bring back public hangings and such and crime will go down,but nooo they going easy on real criminals

So all someone needs to commit identity theft in this country is the ID number and persons name?

I wondered about identity theft done whereby the criminals take info from Myspace and Facebook accounts, I've sort of heard of that, but is it real?

What kind of an idiot would post their ID number or Social Security number on the net? Is there another way for the theif to do it? Or am I just dreaming about identity theft on Social networks?
 
It's frighteningly easy. Shocking actually. When / how can we run credit checks on ourselves? My understanding is that according to the new laws we should be able to easily do that...

Last time I checked doing a credit check on yourself was free in your birthday month and you had to pay a fee to check in the other 11 months.
