A recent survey conducted by BMI-Tech predicts a growth in developers providing fibre-based triple play services to gated communities. The reasoning behind such a decision would be that the added value that such a network gives to the developer and eventual property owner is better marketability and a higher property value.

It doesn't work in my experience. I own a property in Jackal Creek which is wired with fibre throughout. Because the company managing the upward bandwith is totally useless internet in the estate through the network is slower than dial up. Telkom would have bene able to do a much better job with copper I think. BTE www.smartvillage.co.za is the operator.
