EDIT: If you click on the 1TB option the price jumps to R4000 so it must be incorrect.

Yes, in fact it's the option with the wi-fi included which go for about R3200

This is usually what happens when an online product is priced incorrectly!

If you can wait a few months the latest Sigma Designs processor should start to appear. This is being used in the latest Popcorn Hour A-400 and should go on sale in the US in the next week or so. Hopefully Western Digital will also launch something similar.

Kalahari.com have this Egreat R6A-II Realtek RTD1185 based media player on promotion at the moment. They also appear to have stock of the Patriot wireless adapter (Realtek RTL8191SU) at a great price which is compatible with the player.

My advice, DON'T BUY! I currently have one (MED500x2) which I bought at rAge 2011. Sure, it plays most video files without a hitch, but the interface is buggy as hell. As others pointed out earlier in the thread, they always promise to fix issues in updates, but they either never get around to it, or they introduce more bugs! At this exact moment, I'm trying to recover data from my 2TB drive which the Mede8er corrupted. I read about other peoples' hard drive corruption experiences on the forum before and silently prayed that it would never happen to me... . I even avoided upgrading to those "dangerous" firmware versions.

To summarise:

• Pricy
• Slow network (max 8Mbit/s over Gigabit LAN)
• Lots of bugs
• Chance of corrupting your HD (if used internally)
• Support seems awesome initially, but mostly just promises
• Meta data not automatically downloaded - long manual process (with more buggy software)

My next media center is a HTPC with XBMC. For now, I'll stream my videos over the network - not putting a HD in the Mede8er again!

All of this is why I sold my 500X and went hpms with xbmc and it's on another level.
