It is hard for me to picture Nokia being quiet for these last 5 months of the year.

They've already announced some flagship phones for this year. But, I don't see any rumors of new flagship devices.

Are Nokia's new product announcements over for this year?

I certainly do not think so. Especially when Samsung, Apple, HTC and BlackBerry are all set to have events in this period (August to November). It is a critical time. Nokia needs to make some noise too.

I think Nokia will announce their tablet in the coming months. Okay, maybe its because I want a tablet - and it has to be a Nokia.

But, what do you think they will do?

What is Nokia's "Next Big Thing" and when is it coming?

They seem to be moving away from telephony and moving towards photography.
Their latest release is the Lumia 1020 which boasts a 41 MP camera.
Most DSLR cameras are still rated at 18-20 MP.

But that is what you have to do when your phones are not selling, you just throw the kitchen sink at it and hope people will buy them.

Liquidation, actually I think in the next few years they wont make phones just RAN equipment.

Ah this made me lol.

I don't see them going down just yet though, although something will have to change.

I hope Nokia bring out a tablet sometime relatively soon, I'd probably want one.

ya but most DSLR cameras have better CMOS or whatever it basically mean dslr have bigger pixels and captures light better so a better quailty pic.

Nokia 625 with 4.7" screen

As it turns out, Nokia's next big thing is a barrage of mid to low tier market phones with larger screens to hit markets during the holiday season.

Here are the specs for the Lumia 625.

I think Nokia would have released 8 to 12 new WP8 handsets by the end of 2013.

With the Lumias having sold 4.4million in Q4 2012, 5.6million in Q1 2013 and are expected to have sold 8.6million units in Q2 2013, they just might hit 15million in Q4 with this approach. There is virtually a new phone every month.

But, come to think of it, it will be super easy for Nokia to sell.

One USP - It has a 41MP camera.

Why buy it? It has a 41MP camera.

Whats so great about it? Well, it has a 41MP camera.

Or...

What smartphone has the camera with the highest megapixels? The Lumia 1020, it has a 41MP camera.

I am looking for your phone with the best camera. Well, try the Lumia 1020, it has a 41MP camera. What do the others have. The Galaxy S4 has 13MP, the Zoom has 16MP, the HTC One 4MP and the iPhone and Z10 have 8MP cameras.

The choice is really obvious.

Read this -> Nokia just made Android users jealous again.

The Nokia needs to half the price of the Android & Apple and device to really make impact in the market. Sensible people will argue that the only benefit a 41MP can provide is bragging rights around the coffee machine. It's not going to make your life any better.

If I want a camera I will buy one, when I buy a phone first and foremost it must be a good phone not a ***** phone with a fancy camera.

800x480 on a 4.7 inch screen?

No wonder the Lumia range has such a slow uptake...

How's it a ****ty phone?
The Lumia is actually pretty decent, there might be a few flaws in the O/S at the moment but it's improving rapidly. Nothing wrong with the hardware either, when it comes to actually doing what a phone does most people are impressed with the audio quality compared to their Samsungs and BB's.. As a phone there's absolutely nothing wrong.
Do you want a good phone or do you want a ****ty phone with millions of (mostly mediocre) apps?

What are you detractors talking about? Nokia is dominating the Windows phone market completely.

I expect refreshes mostly (X25s), don't think we'll see any X30s this year - at least not before the festive season.

Dude,

Its not a niche market type camera phone like the Zoom. You pretty much have to be a special person to buy a Zoom. And I don't mean that in a good way. I think it was Engadget that said no sensible photographer would touch a Galaxy Zoom with a 10 foot pole, or something like that.

Imagine if you press something and the zoom zooms out in your pocket.

The 1020 is a standard smartphone for sane people. It just has an exceptionally good camera on it.

Nobody is denying the Zoom is an awful idea, I'm just saying if Nokia are hedging all their bets on putting a brilliant camera on a phone, they should rather leave the phone part out and making a brilliant prosumer camera.

It's not their first 40+ MP camera and they're hardly hedging all their bets on it, its just another option they're offering
Hedging all your bets is what you would call the iphone, Lumia consists of a range of products

I know that, I was responding to McCraziegoals last statement.
