His issue is with the fact that the rapist is white, it apparently should make headlines if a white person rapes a kid in a popular family restaurant and get's caught, with video evidence and all. If it was a black person he would probably have been fine with it.

Because, anecdotal evidence aside, it's a pretty unique and foul case. The shock of it is getting a lot of clicks and selling a lot of newspapers.

We have many shocking cases daily that do not get this expore. A new report that quickly gathers dust and that's it. I agree on the clicks though ...

Unfortunately he is not 100% wrong either. We are seeing extremely race based reporting, or lack thereof, depending on the perp's ethnicity. I read a lot carefully daily and it's difficult missing the bias. I've already said the news media is nothing more than glorified social media for the bulk, locally. That is why I hold the news media to account. A "tannie"'s fanny is news more that a year later? Really!?

Anyway, yes, the media is bias. Even I can see this. That still doesn't make him right.

My issue is with bias & double standards.

This case has been racialised, the politician scum got in on, social media got in on it and it's a free for all. Nobody seems to give a flying fsck about the child.
If the perp was the same colour as the victim do you for one second think it could be racialised as it has been?

You're trying to make it as if all those who reported on it have an anti white agenda which is simply incorrect,there are people of course who will racialise this case to suit their agenda which also happens when the races are reversed.

And just because something happens frequently doesn't mean some won't get a lot of media attention eg look at the case of Cheryl zondi and omotoso or the guy who was executed in a parking lot during a highjacking

I don't actually don't agree with you about Ponder. He's being defensive about the race bias subjectively, which incidentally you are as well, but objectively. I won't ask for a kiss and make up, but at least we all agree it's wrong and the perp was pond scum.

The perp and the politicians, don't forget them. But they are and have always been pond scum.
 
I also think it makes so much headlines and gets airtime is due to the fact it hits close to home.

Most of us at some point take our children to these places assuming it is safe to be among reasonable people and then this happens in a fraction of a second. One minute your child plays and the next she gets raped.

Yes a lot worse things happens to a lot of other people but you cant always relate to the farmers or the people in townships.

News that people can relate to will get more attention as that will sell more papers and get more clicks.

I seriously dont think the race is the problem here (and yes it helps some agendas for some) but it is the way we relate to the story.
