The Nissan Micra Thread

Its still a car with an internal combustion engine and plastic mudguards. The other advertised gadgets are just window dressing. What we want are a) autonomous cars, b) electric power with a good range

Maybe you do...many "normal" people (read: masses) don't at this stage.
 
A Micra with Ford Focus rear lights ... well I never.

Good on Nissan for packing in all that safety kit: here's to hoping Nissan SA doesn't strip it all out just to hit a price point.

Are you referring to the 900cc turbopetrol, 1.5 turbodiesel or the 1000cc NA engine?

Both the 900cc Turbo and the 1.0l NA, unless if 66Kw sound awesome to some and whatever power the 1.0 l NA engine will be producing (55kW maybe), but what's the point of designing such a fine car and failing to provide an engine to match the looks, much the same as the Mazda 3 with that 77Kw engine, it just kill the vibe.

Both engines are fine for lower end models but I feel they should have made another choice with more vooma available in the petrol derivatives.

Clearly not comparing apples with apples.

The Mazda 1.6 77kw N/A non-Skyactive engine is from Noah's time. The new engines in the new Micra is lightyears ahead.

Additionally the car was just announced; it's not for sale just yet. Hang on for more engine options & possibly a performance derivative.

Also need to add the Micra is a B-segment car & 3 is a "Golf-class" car.

You missed my point didn't you? I am not comparing a Mazda 3 to a Micra, I am just bemoaning the fact that both of them are very good looking cars which are let down by their choice of engines,(or at lest the Mazda for now).

Hope they do bring a better engine later.
 
I actually did not miss your point hence my end point was of the size/class difference between 2 said vehicles.

I still disagree with you there on your perception/viewpoint that the new Micra engine range is a "let down".

Not long after the launch I do see more (slightly) more powerful motors coming.

Glad I am not the only one who dared to ask for more, Nissan cars are generally well priced maybe they can take this opportunity of finally being able to design a proper car and take the fight to the Fiestas and the Clios of this world.
 
2017 Nissan Micra prices and specs revealed

Nissan aims for the class-leading Ford Fiesta and VW Polo with its new supermini; it will be priced at launch from £11,995

The new Nissan Micra will start from £11,995 when it goes on sale in the UK in March.

Topping the range at £17,295 will be Tekna trim, while the range is kicked off by Visia, before progressing to Visia+, Acenta, N-Connecta and Tekna.

The entry-level car will be equipped with a 1.0-litre 73bhp petrol engine, while as confirmed, a 0.9-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.5-litre diesel - shared with lower-end Renaults - will also feature.

Nissan expects the 0.9-litre three-cylinder Micra in Acenta trim to be the most popular car, at £14,995. This spec will directly compete with the new Ford Fiesta, which is expected to start at around £15,000 after Ford made the decision to replace lower-end Fiesta models with the Ka+.

Options allow for a level of personalisation unseen as yet on the Micra, including the option to add decals to the bonnet, sides and roof, as well as metallic paint (£575), Vision and Comfort packs for the Acenta-spec car (£450 and £700), which bring automatic air-conditioning and keyless entry and go, or a reversing camera and rear parking sensors respectively.
